  Bit of a shame

I have no problems regarding the performances in this concert...absolutely fantastic. The downside is the video and sound quality of this dvd. The video quality is no better than vhs and on some shots there even appears to be ghosting. The sound is stereo and so is very thin and quite harsh at times. What a pity the video content wasn't cleaned up and a 5.1 soundtrack added. Could and should have been perfect.

  Sheer Class - period!

This Concert was of the highest quality.... Colm Wilkinson IS Valjean - no one can compete with him... Phillip Quast as Javert was amazing... Ruthie Henshall as Fantine was sensational - what a voice that woman has... Alun Armstrong as usual was sheer class as was Jenny Galloway as his wife.... Michael Ball IS Marius - the guy is faultless.... Michael Maguire was excellent as Enjolras... Lea Salonga was mesmerising as Eponine.. I understand Frances Rufelle could not reprise her role for various reasons but Lea certainly filled the void.. I would find it hard to choose between the 2 as Rufelle is fantastic.. Judy Kuhn was equally great as Cosette... All in all a thoroughly enjoyable concert with a DREAM CAST.. I've watched the 25th Anniversary Concert also and have to say that it simply doesn't compare to the 10th!!!

Les Miserables - The best musical performance ever!

This is by far one of the most historic and entertaining performances of Les Mis. It doesn't quite match seeing it for real on stage, but this is the next best thing since it still manages to capture the magic of the show! Unfortunately, some of the songs were cropped slightly during this performance (Javert's intervention being one, which happens to be one of my favourites!), but aside from that it is truly remarkable!
Also, the bonus DVD is very fascinating. Running for just under an hour, it is packed full of footage from a variety of worldwide performances that are incredibly entertaining, as well as the story of Les Mis' birth.

Good But Not the Musical You'll Remember

Les miserables is in my opion the best musical out there and this dvd does nothing to dispell it. All the performers are perfection itself. The only downside is that this is only a concert and not the full musical. While it takes nothing away from the performances it doesn't quite suit this musical as it needs the sets and movement to really make the thing come to life. Buy it if you've already seen it and enjoy the music otherwise i would start with the live version.
