Meet the ultimate dysfunctional family!

From acclaimed director Satoshi Kon and Japan's leading animation studio Mad House comes this visually and emotionally stunning tale of adventure, love and redemption. In Tokyo, three homeless people's lives are changed forever when they discover a baby girl in a garbage dump on Christmas Eve. As the New Year fast approaches, these three forgotten members of society band together to solve the mystery of the abandoned child and the fate of her parents. Along the way, encounters with seemingly unrelated events and people force them to confront their own haunted pasts, as they learn to face the future together.

 Awesome Movie!!

This is one of the greatest movies I have *ever* seen! It has everything from humor to drama and action. The style is very unique and most impressive: the smoothness of the animation and the realism of some scenes were amazing and breath-taking at the same time!
The story is thrilling and keeps you sticking to your screen til the credits. Every characters story is somehow intertwined with the others, and one coincidence leads to another.
The Characters are very well designed and realistic, underlined by their own special way of moving and acting.
The japanese voice actors have done an excellent job to round this movie off into a very well done film. I can only recommend "Tokyo Godfathers" to all anime lovers; non-anime fans might not like the sometimes over exaggerated mimic of some characters.

 A Hidden Gem...

I have enjoyed all of Satoshi Kons films, this one is one of my favourites because it is much lighter and funnier.. but also with a deeper meaning and emotion to it. Unlike the other Kon films this hasn't been dubbed into English but i cannot stress enough how that should NOT put you off in the slightest because this film is brilliant. It's worth the extra work of speed reading through the subtitles because it is so enjoyable. To put the icing on the cake the artwork and animation are fantastic, a lot of Animé is low budget so the animation can be jumpy and awkward but that is not the case here, its smooth edgy and funny.

I recommend this to anyone...

Typically manic but still warm and funny

This is a very funny comedy, a warm-hearted family saga and a typically Japanese road-movie all rolled into one! The animation is brilliant and Tokyo comes alive as a murky underworld reminiscent of New York in Taxi Driver, though far less pessimistic. I disliked how there seemed to be a few too many 'coincidences', but with such a likeable bunch of characters and an upbeat story (for once in an anime) it's hard not to like the film. Thumbs up!
