C'mon guys stop the negative comments!!
I think for a film that everyone now understands how it works and that horror has been pretty formulaic for decades, it amazes me how deeply disturbing and messed up this franchise is. Brilliant work Oren. It's a great add on to the other 2 and develops a deeper understanding of where the hauntings all began. For fans of the 1st and 2nd I'm sure you won't be disappointed, much more shocking and disturbing, especially as Katie and Kirsti are just kids. Good sense of nostalgia filtered throughout the film and the fact that you'd be able to put any one of them on in no particular order and still make sense of it all is a job very well done.
Another Halloween another bit of Paranormal Activity.
I loved the simplicity of the first no budget movie. I liked the second so I was really looking forward to this third chapter. This is the prequel set in 1988 that tells the background story of the sisters when they were young and experienced the nightly demonic torments. The film does have some well timed scares, but where the first managed to get under the skin by letting the viewer use ther imagination as alot happens off the camera. This third film plays it all infront and leaves nothing to the imagination, it also uses the old school jump scares and none of the subtle feeling of dread like the first and the second films. But there is also moments when you have to admit were cool. If you liked the previous movies you'll enjoy it, but it is more of the same. If i also wanted to be picky the film is set in 1988 and the camera footige is all in HD wide screen, I'm no technical geek, but I did work for Visionhire at that time and I'm pretty sure that was not around then.
It's the weekest of the three, but the jumps are good, lets hope if there is a fourth film and looking at the box-office takings there will be they go back to basics.
I own the previous movies so although slightly disappointed with this film I'll still buy it.

I was really looking forward to seeing this but I left the cinema really disappointed by it. Don't get me wrong it has the really good scares. None of what's in the trailers was in the film, none at all. I felt the film ended to soon and we were cheated out of half the story, If you've seen it at the cinema you will get what I mean. I really hope they bring out extended on DVD & Blu Ray. I give it 2 stars just for the scary bits!
Definitely one of the scariest horror films of the last few years! Great to watch with your partner or as a group. I'd say it is slightly better than the first and second films. The CCTV footage style filming is what makes the film so unique and so scary...a must watch DVD! Don't watch it alone though!
