This is a film about hope and belief. This is the best film ever made?, in my opinion nothing even comes close. The actors are all so good in their respective rolls that anyone else doing seems wrong now. Morgan Freeman plays his best part to date, and on the talkover bits with his sweet silky voice, watch it and you will see what i mean. You can sit down and start watching this film then what seems like 20 seconds later the credits are rolling. How this film never got an oscar is beyond me as no film since or for 5 years before this even comes close. You will watch this film again and again, and you will find something new in it every time.
The Shawshank Redemption is a very moving story about hope and the power of friendship. The cast is absolutely first rate with everyone at the top of their game here. Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman carry the movie but its James Whitmore's portrayal of Brookes and elderly inmate that really touches me everytime I watch the film.
As the film progresses you get to know each charcaters very well and you start to understand the reasons behind what they do (Brookes in particular)
This film keeps you glued to the screen the entire way through and has a great twist towards the end. Its a simple story elegantly and cleverly told. A modern classic.
THE GREATEST FILM EVER MADE.

I wish I could have given this film 6 Stars because it is in my opinion the greatest film ever made ( & yes that includes Star Wars or LOTR Trilogys). This is a complete one -off. The writing is first class & the acting is even better. How this never won an Oscar, I will never know. Simply superb!

This is without doubt the greatest film ever made. Tim Robbins plays the lead role superbly and Morgan Freeman as the supporting actor/narrator is simply amazing. This film is a absolute classic and i recommend it to anyone who, for some strange reason, has never watched it.
