A fantastic disaster movie, with great effects, touching and emotional storylines and an absolutely gripping story, the ending is so nerve shreddingly brilliant and is actually quite scary when you think about it.

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars Oceans rise. Cities fall. Hope survives.

This in my opinion is far better than Armageddon dont get me wrong Armageddon was a great film but I feel this film was much stronger with emotions and story.
The film begins when a teenage amateur astronomer discover a comet on a direct collision course for the Earth. The world is then thrown into turmoil has humanity has to accept their possible extinction. While NASA sends a shuttle up with the intention to try to blow the comet to bits, the US government selects people to be saved in a cave they are building to withstand the event. Focusing on various unrelated characters, the film shows how people react differently to the destruction of all that they know.
Deep impact is differnt from many films as gives a very human side to tragedy and devastation by showing how ordinary people cope in times of crisis but it avoids the trap of being trite and overly-sentimental. Hence the 5stars i give it

I really enjoy this film, and if there's any similiar Sci Fi movies like it then somebody must recommend some to me.

Personally, I'm not actually a fan of sci fi movies, but this film got me hooked and should suit anybody's taste. The ending to the film was tense, and certainly worth watching the beginning and middle to it, even though some parts were occasionally slow moving.

Deep Impact isn't a film that I could watch over and over again, but you must see it once if you haven't done already.

Customer rating: 3 out of 5 stars A Great Watch

The First Time I Watched This Film I Wasn't Really Entertained Much.
I Watched It Again and I Didn't Know What I Was Thinking Before.
The graphics are Just Awe Inspiring and The Actors Pull It Off (Not To Oscar-Winning Standard Though)

It is Well Worth The Price That Play.com Are Selling It At!

Customer rating: 4 out of 5 stars Affecting and thoughtful

This film is the flipside of 1998's other asteroid movie, 'Armageddon'. Where that movie was about big action and heroes, 'Deep Impact' is more introspective and lower-key. In some places, it's probably too matter-of-fact about the unfolding chaos - but where it counts, it's genuinely moving. Great performances all-round, just the right amount of special effects, and a film I try to watch at least once a year.

Customer rating: 2 out of 5 stars Great concept - Poorly Acted and To slow Paced - Truly Poor

The cover of this DVD relates to the last 10 minute sof the film in which 4 minutes is the Credits. The film, which deals with how America only would deal with the threat of knowing for years that a rogue asteroid would hit the Earth and be an Extinction Level Event.

Meant to be the thinking mans movie, this is poor, drab and ultimatly pointless. It lacks excitment, dynamics and character.

Characters are very one dimensional and the bulk of the story being told by Tea Leoni in a newsreading studio lacks the dynamic and emotion that telling the story possibly any other way would not have resolved in.

This lack of connecting with the characters leaves you emotionless as the image shown on the DVD cover happens. Worse still, Elijah Wood and his female counter part in early roles are so annoying you wish they'd just be quiet.

The final visual effects sequence is very good, but Elijah Wood out running a 200 metre high 1000 mph tidle wave on a mountain cross bike is totally unrealistic.

I'd avoid if possible, Armagedon is far better
