Thunderbirds are GO!

International Rescue, run in secret by the Tracy family and led by Jeff (Bill Paxton), is permamently on standby to offer assistance when accidents and incidents threaten lives across the world. However, when the villainous Hood (Ben Kingsley) infiltrates the Tracy's clandestine island base and imprisons most of the family, who will rescue the rescuers? It's left to teenage Alan (Brady Corbet) and his similarly young friends to save the day!

Modern interpretation of the original cult sixties series. Bright, colourful romp that is bound to please the kids. For the adults amongst us, though, the film lacks anything to keep us amused, so this one is best on the TV to keep the kids amused while the adults do something else! For the die hard Thunderbirds fan, the film s a big letdown, because the story writers seem to have forgotten what it was all about and come out with something more akin to Spy Kids than to the original Thunderbirds. I have given it a three as an average! Young kids will give it more, and adults less.

Having a young son that both likes the old Thunderbird TV shows as well as High School Musical, then this new movie was destined to be a hit in our house.

Whilst there is little time for the older brothers, they don't strike you a being particularly 3d in character. The younger stars are good for their characters. I for one am glad that the story focused on the young kids as this actually brings out the other supporting stars much more.
Ben Kingsley as the Hood, Lady Penelope and Parker, and to some extent the other bad guys.
The acting is fun (probably no oscars for this one) but the film has a good pace and stays interesting, although adults may guess what may happen next in a few of the scenes.

Top honours to the interplay between Lady P and Parker - very enjoyable film.

 Ignore the critics. It's FAB!!

After reading the bad reviews this got, I was reluctant to buy it but, being a Thunderbirds fan, I did eventually and I'm glad I did. It's a thoroughly entertaining all round family film.

Some people say they are disappointed because it's different from the old series of 40-odd years ago. What did they expect? People walking around like puppets and attached to strings?
This film is an up-dated version and it works very well.
All the old characters are there and the story works in line with the old series.
Basically, the old enemy, The Hood, takes over Tracy Island and Jeff Tracy and his four eldest sons are trapped on TB5. His youngest son, Alan, along with Tintin and Brains' son are left to combat The Hood.
Lady Penelope and Parker are also there to put up a fight.
All the crafts have been up-dated and a couple of the machines (also up-dated) from the old series are also used in the film.
The visual effects are stunning, especially the part at the London Eye on the River Thames. There's plenty of humour too.

The DVD itself has lots of extras including an on-screen game and the video of the theme by 'Busted' (That's the only bit I didn't like. Yuk!).

On the whole, the DVD is well worth buying and if, like I did, you think the film is a no-no, you are in for a pleasant surprise. F.A.B.

 Quite Disappointing

Saw this at the cinema and was really annoyed the direction they took this film. The only positive thing about this film was the revamped imagining of the 60's designs ie the thunderbird craft but thats it really. This film focused far too much on Alan and pals and virtually ignored the rest of the Tracey family, as a big fan of the classic Thunderbirds I was gutted. This shouldnt have been called Thunderbirds more like 3 brats running around a jungle

Stick with the puppets, this is terrible

they took a good tv show & done it up like some really bad teen movie. If anything held the film together, it was the special effects, but thats it.
The soundtrack was rubbish too.
They took the complete WRONG aproach when they made this.
