Victoria Wood is a true classic of Britsh Comedy, This series ONLY had a 2 year prduction,Unlike some other comedy series that keep running till they have become PAINFUL to watch, as they lose their humour. This is FRESH and GENTLE, rib tickerling ...thought provoking but Mostly incrediabley FUNNY. DO NOT HESITATE TO BUY THIS SERIES .
Written and co-produced by wood; filmed in front of a live audience and set in a canteen. This is about the staff who work both in the canteen and factory. It takes some getting into, but it does grow on you. It's let down by Woods over acting, she is almost doing stand up comedy and it just does not work. However, it's worth watching for the wonderful performances by Thelma Barlow as the social climber Dolly Bellfield and the evergreen Anne Ried as Jean, Dolly's best friend.
