once you know how infernal affairs I ends, you can imagine the possibilities offered for the second part. but in stead of going forward in time (as with the godfather II) this one goes backward and gives an insight in what happened before part I took place. a lot of intrigues are unfolded, the who-is-who game is continued and it certainly makes you wonder how part III will continue.
it's a real maffia movie, of the better kind, intelligent, with shoot outs at the right time and not just for the kick of action (it goes along with the story, it isn't the story itself as in many other movies where the story is mere supportive for the action)

the first infernal affairs was a revelation and this is truly astonishing. it is incredible that despite knowing the general outcome the film offers so many twists and turns. as hollywood continues to implode and release awful crime films this is quite possibly the greatest gangster film ever apart from possibly election (vol.1)
