  Aliens Attack

| | See all stuartfear's reviews (768)

Simply put, aliens attack the earth and the human race must rise up and fight against what seems like an unstoppable force. We follow a squadron in Los Angeles who are given the task of clearing civilians from the evacuation zone. The story is simple and easy but the Action is well... Action Packed! There's battles from start to finish, non stop action which creates suspense and gets the heart pumping, all are exciting and despite the amount of combat never gets boring. The movie is what you'd think it is, yet it manages to bring something new to the table. Recommended Action flick

  Shocking

This film was so bad I had to watch it in 3 stages. There was nothing original about this movie, just intense over acting and rubbish looking aliens. glad i didnt waste money on this at the cinema.

  Why no breakfast?

I have to agree with other reviewers, the camera did shake around too much. I could only relate with the Sargeant, the others were a blur. I could not understand why his character did not allow his troops to at least have some breakfast - an army marches on its stoma. Some r & r was needed before they moved out again.

At last a good Hollywood Sci Fi

No real big name actors, just a plain and simple idea sold well. Yes we get the almost usual bunch of social rejects grouped together in a fight of their lives but that can be forgiven set against the directing skillfully working along side the soundtrack that will have you on the edge of your seat at times. Matters are firmly routed on the ground as we follow the team into no man's land. The combat could easily be based in Iraq or the Afghanistan conflicts. I kept watching my clock as I did not want this to end, but when it does it has the type of ending that leaves the door open. Not that I would like to see a cheap cop out part two movie, but the Guru's in Hollywood are learning that often less is more and that to focus on the people first gets the audience well behind them. If you watch as many flms as I have you can work out what happens next, but the emotions are played well and I was sucked into the world of almost futile combat. This is one to own along side the last great Sci Fi's the Original War of the Worlds and The original The day the Earth stood still. Watch it with headphones on or if the neighbours are out with the TV turned up. Powerful and sharp.

  Totally unoriginal and lacking storyline.

I was disapointed with this. I was expecting a special effects bonanza and loads of action. The special effects were ok, the aliens are robots. The storyline is absolute pants. We get invaded by an alien force but defeat them by blowing the daylights out of everything in sight. The plot is absolute rubbish, go rescue a few civilians and the soldiers walk straight into an ambush. Absolutely moronic. This film is why Team America was such a success. Give it a miss is my opinion.

OK, I'm going to tell you how it is... this film is good and is worth watching. It's as simple as that. Thank you.

Black Hawk Down and Independence Day in one film

Having read some of the reviews here I truely did not expect more than a ok Sci-Fi action film for a hung-over sunday. But I was pleasantly suprised. The effects are superb and the storyline is great. Yes the american hero factor is through the roof in a few scenes, but its easy to ignore the constant american need to salute honour, glory and the higher cause. I feel its best to see this film without knowing much about it really. So imagine Black Hawk Down and Independence Day rolled into one film. If you liked any of these, Battle LA is a great watch.

Great Action.. What You Would Expect...

*Battle LA is about an alien invasion. Similar to District 9, Skyline and Independence Day but this time it's shot from the view point of the Marines.
*By no means a classic story but this is an entertaining film. As expected its not long before the action starts. There's some great effects and lot's of explosions. Worth a watch.
