Trainee nurse Sam is walking home to her flat in a South London tower block when she's robbed by a gang of masked, hooded youths. She's saved when the gang are distracted by a bright meteorite, which falls from the sky and hits a nearby parked car. Sam flees, just before the gang have to fight off a small alien creature that leaps from the wreckage.

While Sam and the police hunt for the gang, a second wave of meteors fall. Confident of victory against such feeble invaders, the gang grab weapons, mount bikes and set out to defend their turf. But this time, the creatures are bigger. Much bigger. Sam suddenly realises that the bunch of no-hope kids who attacked her are about to become her best and only hope to survive.

Attack The Block is a fast, funny and frightening action-adventure movie that pits a teen gang against an invasion of savage alien monsters. It turns a London housing estate into a sci-fi playground. A tower block into a fortress under siege. And teenage street kids into heroes. It¹s inner city versus outer space.

This is an extremely fun and extremely brilliant British comedy sci-fi horror! Directed by Joe Cornish who was part of the hilarious Adam and Joe show! The story is brilliant and original, a gang of youths fight to protect their block against an alien invasion in London. There is a fantastic cast of characters, Jodie Whittaker is a great actress and was very funny in both St, Trinians movies and plays a good female lead in this. Nick Frost is always funny no matter what, and the younger cast were brilliant too. The effects are cool and the aliens with their glowing teeth are awesome! This is a good fun gem of a film thats not to be missed!! There are some cool extras too.

A terrific sci-fi comedy from Joe Cornish

Attack the Block is one of the best movies of the year. The streetwise hoodies are suitably menacing. Jodie Whittaker is totally convincing as she treads the fine line between victim and heroine.Treadaways upmarket stoner is excellent, and out of the hoodies, Pest has all the best lines but John Boyega is astonishing as Moses, leader of the gang. Going very convincingly from hoodie thug to hero. This is testament to Cornishes skillful writing/directing and Boyegas gifted acting. The thrills come thick and fast after the set up, and in spite of the sometimes, odd street talk, the context makes it easily understood. There are laughs and chills aplenty, and enough blood to satisfy most gore hounds. The creature design is genius in its simplicity, all spikey fur and sharp, luminescent teeth. I can wholeheartedly recommend this film to all fans of horror/sci-fi, and no, I'm not a twenty something gorehound/hoodie/chav, I'm a 61 yr old filmfan who likes well made, quality films.

 Surprisingly good

Saw the trailer for it, thought it looked interesting but wasn't expecting much from it. But I was really wrong, it turned out to be amazing. Bit slow at the start but then its non stop after. Definitely worth the watch.

 AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!

OK the premise is simple, Aliens try to invade and are confronted by a group of South London chavs. Thats pretty much it, a violent gang of drug using scum bags from the lowest part of our country fighting Aliens with glow in the dark teeth!
Yes, from that it does sound a bit rubbish, something that should be compared to Mega Eel Vs Giant Clownfish or such like, but this film is so much more than that. It's a true epic and funny as hell! There's action, comedy and more importantly, seeing as this must have cost about 250 quid to make, some very convincing acting. Every part in this film is played perfectly, you will connect with the characters and by the end of the film you will have a new found appreciation for that bunch of 'yobs' (as my nan used to call them) on the street corner at the end of your road.

Alot of people are saying that this is as good as Shaun of the Dead. I say it's better!
