I've been waiting since early of this year for this movie, its a film I've anticipated mostly because I was awaiting to see what Tom Hardy could do in his career.
The story is fairly predictable, it's not a unique tale and its filled with cliques from other past movies. But its Brilliant! For some reason it stands out as a piece on its own. The story is brilliantly written, the characters have depth, the story has depth, and it has feeling.
It's an emotional rollercoaster ride from beginning to end, there's ups and downs, theres smiles and tears, it has everything you could want from a story. It feels genuine and real which makes it hit you that little bit harder in the heart.
Hardy, Edgerton, Notle - three men three top performances! All oscar worthy performances, they felt like real people, the tears were real, the pain was real and the emotions were all real. Great Performances.
Overall: In the running for 2011's Best Movie!
It made me smile down to my stomach, it made me ache all the way to my heart, it brought tears to this grown man's eyes.
Brilliant Movie
MUST SEE!!
Could well be one of the best movies I have ever seen. Great story line, actors and fight scenes. Loved every minute of it. I even took a girl to see it who usually only likes s*x and the city and she also loved it!
top drawer film here, great to see mixed martials arts get the budget and cast to put it out there. these type of stories are usually reserved for boxing so its great to see a change. simple story ex marine with messed up head thomas hardy, family man brother joel edgerton, and alchoholic dad nick nolte, come together again in the world of martial arts, all three leads nail their parts to perfection especially nolte who shows all his life experience. fight scenes are brill and you can see hardy and edgerton had to learn a fair amount to make this work, story and cast have depth and film goes through all the emotion, stunning must see.
this film is awesome, a lot of films that are based on fighting/boxing are very predictable and also very basic, but not this one. it takes the time to build the characters and the story, and the fight scenes are still epic, and keep you at the edge of your seat, (i nearly started throwing punches in the cinema i got that involved) its a must see, emotional, entertaining, exciting, inspirational, tense and gripping! Awesome film!
