A volunteer home care worker, Rika, enters the home of a bed-ridden patient and discovers a strange ghostly presence lurking behind a door sealed with duct tape. Her discovery unleashes a horrible evil which baffles police investigators, who find that a whole series of people have gone missing from this particular house. Further investigation leads to Toyama, a former detective who handled the case of a man who murdered his wife in the house, but whose son was never found. But when the angry "Ju-On" spirit of vengeance that has infected the house reaches beyond its boundaries, Rika realises that the horror is spreading...

Don't bother with the rubbish American version with Buffy. This original version really is scary stuff. The actress who plays Rika, does actually look scared most of the time, which helps - same can't be said for Buffy. The suspense kills you and the twist at the end is horrid. That little boy still gives me the creeps...

although i love the american remakes, this is still the 1st and the best.scary, eerie, well made, produced & acted this is a really great ghost story.vengeful spirits, terrifying apparitions and shocks galore.the japanese have cornered the market in films that scare the crap out of you without having to resort to a gallon of gore.great horror film.

Amazing japanese ghost story, this kind of movie really freaks me out, especially when watching this alone at night. One of the best asian horror movies around, cool DVD menu, shame it only has English subtitles, that's why it won't get my perfect rating.
