I saw "Contact" for the first time when I was 15 yo, but still today (11 years after) is one of my preferred movie ever.... Why? 'cause I love the story. I wondered alot on the deep questions that this movie leave in you (moreover if you're a young teen) that, actualy, are not merely "are we alone?".
I love the soundtrack of this movie too; simpy wonderful. As the extraordinary deep Space images and animations.

A must see, if you love this kind of story... and don't mind if you believe or not in the "little green men" ^_^

If you enjoy a film that is entertaining whilst discovering mans greatest question, 'are we alone' . . . then this simply quite masterful film has to be seen. 10/10

Why was this film made...? No action, No aliens, No comedy, No nothing! This film is the biggest disappointment ever. Forget what all the critics say, its just worthless. Seriously though, the acting is OK, but the rest...Pointless

Loved the film, its spectacular, intelligent and moving. Sci-fi done properly.

It you haven't seen it, DON'T read the review titled "My first ever DVD" below, which isn't a review, just a massive SPOILER for the ending.

This is a solid film, that I doubt you are unfamiliar with. It has great visuals for a 1997 release (which made this film feature in many trailers of hi-end home theater systems).

The characters are great, nice acting too (though the roles are not THAT demanding!), the story unfolds wonderfully. What I find most appealing is the realistic approach on the subject, how science struggles with politics, how governments are trying to use this discovery to their advantage. Also the film maintains an interesting balance between science and religion.

Overall it approaches science, and extra-terrestrial life in a persuasive manner, great storytelling, wonderful ending.

And of course, my favorite saying of all time:
"When all things are equal, the simplest explanation tends to be the correct one".

Really a great film that deserves to be in a sci-fi addicts collection.
