Starting on Tony Blair's induction with the Queen after his 1997 landslide, the film depicts the crazy week of Diana's tragic death, as Tony Blair battles with a grieving public, the Queen goes into hiding in Balmoral with the young princes.

Helen Mirran is outstanding as the Queen, but Tony Blair, played by Martin Sheen is equally as brilliant as he trys to stop the Chaos. I love the scene where he puts Alistar Cambell in his place.

Royalist or not. You'll love this movie.

 Brilliant

Although I'm sure most of this film is based on speculation I thought Helen Mirren portrayed the role brilliantly - she also has a very eerie resemblence to the queen. A truely Oscar winning performance. I think a lot of people will find this film comforting as the death of Diana had such an impact and people wanted to know that the queen was affected as much as they were.

 Very good

A well-made film which details the lives of the Royal Family during the time of Princess Diana's death.
Helen Mirren portrays the Queen very well and makes the 'character' extremely believable.
A good film, even if (like myself) you are not a hardcore Royalist.

 Fantastic!

This film follows the Queen as she goes into hiding during the week after Diana's death. It is poignant, well directed and very well wriiten.
Helen Mirren depicts the Queen in such an outstanding way, she is so suited to the role, and it is quite scary at how alike she looks to the Queen!
There is also an outstanding performance from Martin Sheen as Tony Blair, who has just become Prime Minister and is doing everything in his power to convince the country that their Queen has not let them down.
This is a very well written docu-drama, which raises a few questions as to what the Royals really thought of Diana but also portrays them in a different light. Definately worth watching. Highly recommended!

 Truth or dare?

What do we know about the Queen? How would she react in a crisis?
How much of this portrait of the Queen is true I do not know but nonetheless Helen Mirren is just wonderful in the title role, coming to terms with something which is, for once, outside of her experience and understanding. When Tony Blair (Michael Sheen) stands up for her and her values it really does bring a lump to the throat. All the supporting cast are good too, and lets hear it for Sylvia Syms who is a hoot as the Queen Mother!
