This is a copy of the film Infernal Affairs. Scorsese has basically taken this great film and put rubbish actors in the mix. With the exception of Jack Nicholson the cast is horrible. Damon and Caprio are on a par with rubbish actors like Ben Afflick.

If you want the true film buy Infernal Affairs not this cop out.

I think it's far better than Goodfellas, and one of the best gangster movies ever, it's thrilling with an unbelievable cast, great story and thrilling from start to finish.

This film is right up there with "Goodfellas" and the original "Godfater" movie.

Leonardo Di Caprio and Matt Damon play two cops rising through the ranks in a corrupt police force. Both end up undercover with Di Caprio joining jack Nicholson's crime unit and Damon in a clever twist is working for Nicholson from inside the police force.

Matt damon really stands out in a cast packed with excellent actors. It's Di Caprio's best role in years but he's still hard to buy as a tough guy in a couple of scenes. I ended up rooting for Matt Damon's character despite him being the baddie.

Truly one of the greatest movies of the year and certainly one of the best in this genre.

Okay ... I am slightly biased towards mob films and Martin Scorsese, but this film is just pure class from start to finish.
Matt Damon and Leonardo DiCaprio really deliver as two Boston cops on opposite sides of the law, matched by fantastic performances from Mark Wahlberg and Jack Nicholson.

A brilliantly engaging story, and a nice change of scene for the mob genre - Irish gangsters in Boston as opposed to Italian gangsters in New York.

In my opinion, this is the best film to grace our screens since the turn of the century, and one of Scorsese's best films to date. Definitely recommended!!

Although it isn't Scorsese's best film, it is surprisingly his only big Oscar win. Jack Nicholson heads an all star cast and completely steals every scene he's in (as usual for a Jack-film). If you've seen the original Hong Kong version, don't worry - this film does not disappoint. I like both versions equally. The storyline is strong, the acting is on top-form from everyone and there's enough swearing, violence and action to keep anybody entertained. This is a MUST have!!

I decided to watch this the first time just because of the fact that it had Damon and Dicaprio in, two of todays most outstanding actors.

Dicaprio and Dicaprio play cat and mouse through this film chasing each other for information in a wierd kind of way. A brilliant cop/mob film. Highly recommend it to fans of films like the Untouchables. Jack Nicholson also plays a great role as the mob boss, a perfect role to fit his acting. Great twist and turns through out.

A highly recommended watch, rather long but well worth it!

Have to say I love all of the films that Martin Scorsese has directed and been involved with. I missed the opportunity to see this on the big screen but recently bought it from Play at a very good price. There are a lot of big names in the film and all play their parts well, the film itself is interesting and moves along well in my opinion. Not to spoil the film for people who have not viewed but there are some interesting twists that I certainly did not see coming! I would advise anyone who has a love of the Gangster/Thriller genre to pick this up, I was not dissapointed and look forward to watching it through again!

There's no doubt that this movie is a class act. The writing and direction are as slick as it gets, and the performances pretty much flawless. But this film still lacks something. Compared to Scorcese's mob masterpiece Goodfellas, The Departed seems full of artifice. It lacks the truly visceral nastiness (thought there's plenty of violence) that infuses that earlier work. The hoods here come across as more a product of Hollywood's obsession with the mob than real people, unlike the gangsters in Goodfellas, who are all too believable. There's also a McGuffin or two in here, which is a disappointment. And is it my imagination or has Jack Nicholson developed a habit of glancing directly at the camera? He certainly does it here a few times and I seem to remember him doing so in several of his recent movies. Nonetheless, this is a gruesomely entertaining movie and worth the lengthy (150mins) investment.

Rating 8/10. Good film - definitely not on par with the classics (Goodfella's etc) but good all the same.

An excellent mob movie inspired by movies like "Donnie Brasco" and the hong kong movie "Internal Affairs". Leornardo De Caprio's best movie and Matt Damons second best movie after the Bourne movies. Jack Nicholson gives an outstanding performance as mob boss Frank Costello. Matt Damons best performance as a villain. As stated by critics this movie is Martin Scorseses finest movie since the Goodfellas. A very good movie and a definite buy. This is in the same league as Scorseses classic movies "Goodfellas" and "Casino". Buy this movie and watch it. Trust me you wont be disappointed.
