Hot Fuzz (2 Discs)

The sort of film that leaves you with a smile on your face all the way through, rather than laughing out loud occasionally. Essentially it has three things going for it; (1) the chemistry between Pegg and Frost, (2) the joy of seeing practically every face of British comedy and acting popping up at some point, and (3) the fact that when it comes to delivering the action it doesn't disappoint. While not the most stunt-filled of movies, the final 30 minutes of action is so bizarre you can't help but grin all the way through. Perhaps a little uneven in tone, it's certainly a film you'll want to see again and get other people to see.

Being an avid Simon Pegg and Nick Frost fan, Hot Fuzz didn't disappoint. It had everything I was expecting from them, and more. With the usual suspects line-up of actors (Pegg, Frost, Nighy), Hot Fuzz jumps right out at you and pees all over your living room carpet (metaphorically, of course!).

Right from the beginning, you're trust into the world of Simon's character, with the usual soft-blown comedy scripted jokes (rather than the slapstick), and cool acting.

The action doesn't pick up until Angel gets relocated to the country. After a few unsolved crimes that are convenient 'accidents' is when the action really starts. Don't let the thought of half the film having no action because the witty one-liners and enitre conversations that Frost and Pegg have are something to remember.

Like Shaun Of The Dead, the film is heavily reliant on the acting skills and scripting in order to make it work. Like Shaun Of The Dead, they're spot on. As well as hilarious jokes, you'll notice a few little crafty homages to both Spaced and Shaun Of The Dead (Cornetto? Never taken a shortcut before? Jog on...) which will have you in fits of laughter.

The comedy is nothing I have ever seen before in a film other than Shaun Of The Dead and Spaced, due to the sheer fact that Pegg and Frost are comic genius'.

An appearance from Bill Bailey makes things all the more interesting, as well as the intense gore that they've integrated into the film. Though Shaun was gory? You need to watch this film.

Hot Fuzz is an instant classic, and an excellent addition to the Pegg and Frost saga of intense films. Most certainly something to be on your wish list. Admittedly, not something for the faint of heart, because the film is incredibly graphic, but there's a little bit in there for everyone willing to pee themselves laughing.

this film made me laugh so much.
i wasn't to keen on seeing it, but my brother talked me into it and in the end i thought it was a very funny very good english film.
buy it.

Generally the reviews on here are fairly glowing with some that are a bit scathing. These reviews are for those who want to make an informed decision so in many respects both sides have missed the mark with biased opinions.
Lets make this simple, if you are a fan of Simon and Nick you will not be disappointed. My Fiancee wasnt sure of Shaun of the Dead but she loved this. If on the other hand you dont know what to expect then this is midsommer murders meets lethal weapon via bad boys and die hard! It starts a little slow but in the end the action is a rival for anything hollywood throws at us.
The point some people seem to be missing is that in many ways Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and Edgar Wright have been rewriting the british comedy genre. They use a lot of reference to other films and this is what they are appreciated for and if this is not your thing then no one will change your mind. But lets be clear on one thing - its not slapstick its intelligent rip taking so the person who said it should be like leslie nielson is really not getting the formula. This was the film that really got me to go back and see Simons old stuff and I now have a great appreciation of hwo he does things. He's actually a clever and very analytical bloke.
The film is quite violent for a 15 and there are harsh profanities throughout so be warned
I loved this film and Ive never laughed so hard in the cinema for ages - well there was the last 2 matrix films but that was for another reason! Its good fun and I cant recommend it enough

Now im quite a critial person when it comes to films but it's really quite difficult to find fault with Hot Fuzz. It delivers everything it promises and a bit more besides. At its heart, we have the buddy/love story between Nick and Danny, played to perfection by Pegg and Frost. They're supported by the absolute cream of British comedy and acting talent and everyone involved is an absolute bloody delight.

The jokes go from silly to inspired back to very silly indeed, but belly laughs are plentiful and surrounded by dozens of smaller giggles. As a parody of police action movies, it's also right on the money, but actually, it's as much homage as it is piss-take, as they recreate some of the cheesiest scenes from the "masterpieces" of the genre with obvious affection. Even better though, it's also a damn good action film in its own right lol

The climax does drag on a touch, with the oldllll loooook 'he's behind you' being used a couple of times too many, and the final payoff isn't quite as satisfying as Shaun of the dead nor is it as good, But these are minor quibbles that don't detract from Hot Fuzz being surely the funniest film you'll see this year. your sides will be aching from fits of laughter with this gem of a film...
