What happens when you dilute a great movie together with one hell of a great actor? You get Outland. No matter how many times I see this movie it just simply keeps me glued to the TV set. Must be one of the best sci-fi movies ever made.
IT'S HIGH NOON IN SPACE

Outland runs like the forgotten cousin to Alien. The film owes much to Ridly Scotts all time classic. The sets are similar with every thing looking like it has a use, all the equipment has a grimey used look, and even Jerry Goldsmith does the music score that is almost identical to Alien. This is set in a near future where a mining complex on one of Jupiters moons has some unexplained suicides, as some of the work force freak out and decompress there space suits, giving way to gloriouse exploding heads. Sean Connery is the new Sherrif and is about to uncover a drugs running ring that the company is aware of. As the steroid like drugs, make the work force work alot better, it's just a shame of the side effects. To silence Connery the company bring in a hit squad to deal with him.
This is a great update on High Noon, and the space setting is a interesting twist. The music in the movie adds to the tension, and Connery is on top form, as the take no crap sherrif.
This is a well rounded muscular thriller, that deserves re-watching.
