In 2013 there are no highways and no dreams of a better tomorrow - only scattered survivors across what was once the United States. Into this apocalyptic wasteland comes an enigmatic drifter with a mule, a knack for Shakespeare and something yet undiscovered the power to inspire hope.
Kevin Costner directs and plays a wayfarer in a world where might makes right - but destined to lead a heroic rebellion where right makes might. Sweeping battle scenes, breathtaking wilderness vistas and touching moments of personal triumph combine to ensure "The Postman delivers"!

This is Costners follow on film, after the success of "Dances with wolves". It tries hard to be a action film, but it does lack something ACTION. I found this to be quite a slow moving film, and it went on for 2hrs 30mins.
Based on one mans search for his personal utopia, after America has been ravaged by a plague.
At least my other half enjoyed it, and whatever makes her happy, is fine with me. So if you would enjoy a reasonably good film, that has a slow moving plot, this may be just the film for you.
Another Costner disappointment.

Kevin Costner made "Dances With Wolves", which was a half decent film. Since then, it all went one way for him, downhill! I suppose The Postman is'nt his worst film though, the worst must be "A perfect World" where he even magaged to drag down Clint Eastwood to his level. The Postman is a film to watch on a rainy sunday afternoon, when you are really pushed for something to do.

Although this is long film, it works better than the other post apocalyptic films, it has humour and sadness. The ending works as a fell good movie.
