Cameron Crowe's return to the director chair after a long absence is a heartwarming and well intentioned family pleaser that hits the mark when something comfortable is needed.

In the wake of his wife's death Matt Damon's struggling widower spontaneously decides to uproot his family and buys a zoo in the California countryside. But it's in need of a whole lot of work to get it back up an running and as he and his family struggle to move on with a new life the challenges increase.

Solid and entertaining family stuff it has a good cast and (being a Cameron Crowe film) a none too shabby soundtrack either. Perfect for the whole family.

  heartwarming family movie

based on a true story, this is the strange adventure of a family who lost their mother and try to start all over. due to their father's impulsive and adventurous nature they buy a new house with.... indeed: a zoo. although a bit broken-down and therefore almost due for closure. but that's not what happens, so.... see for yourself.
enjoy some very surprising and fine acting (matt damon as a tormented family father rather than an action hero) in this great and heartwarming movie.

I bought this because I love animals but I was very disappointed with the film. The animals weren't really in it that much, it wasn't funny and it had bad language. I watched this film with 2 young kids so I wasn't that impressed.

Been there, now own the movie

This film is great, a perfect family film! About a man who's wife dies and so he wants to have a new start, he quits his job, sells his house and leaves the town. But not only does he have to please himself, he has 2 other people to please. His daughter and his 12 year old son. He goes to look at this one house and it's perfect. the only problem is its a zoo... He has 2 weeks to fix up the zoo before the inspection, will they get through the inspection with the help of their workers, also a little romance is added to the film... ENJOY, I know my family did. Was laughing at parts.
