Officially, Apollo 17, launched December 17th, 1972 was the last manned mission to the moon. But a year later, in December of 1973, two American astronauts were sent on a secret mission to the moon funded by the US Department of Defense. What you are about to see is the actual footage which the astronauts captured on that mission. While NASA denies its authenticity, others say it's the real reason we've never gone back to the moon.

Looking like real archieve footage it really does the job of getting you into the mood. The footage looks genuine, looks exactly like the stuff we've seen from the moon landing and other missions.
However, the movie itself fails to deliver. Theres a lot of tension built from the minute they land on the moon, but thats all it has is tension and suspense. Nothing ever seems to mount up and it feels slightly disappointing, you sense things going to happen but they never seem to get there.
Directing wise, it looks like genuine footage from "many moons ago", but this is also the problem as at times its quite disorientating and its hard to know whats going on.

Overall: Looks Amazing but lacks content, and as a horror it lacks scares!

This is for those who say that we never actually went to the moon, that it was all set up in a sudio in Area 51, so for those who believe in all that paranoid rubbish will think this is real.... honest!
There is zero gravity and even less horror in this Paranormal Activity wannabe, in which a clandestine 1973 mission to militarise the moon is scuppered by Alien rock crabs on the moon. Who seemingly weren't around when Neil and Buzz were making their giant leaps four years prior. The look and vibe of Apollo-era astronoutics are well created, whilst Britain's Lloyed Owen projects square-jawed machoismo as one of the NASA guys realising this is probably a one way trip. But with corny as hell plot twists this thriller is duller than a year on the International Space station.
And just for those who say we never landed back in 1969, we did ok! and whilst we are on the subject the Apollo project ended due to budget restrictions due to the cost of the Vietnam war and the shuttle project taking hold and not mutant space crabs..... and also the world won't end 21/12/12 and Bin-Laden and Elvis are both actually dead!
See if you like......

It's hard to rate this in my opinion as it's more down to what the person watching it believes in as such. The movie is based around footage from "the mission that never was" Apollo 18, footage that was captured by the crew of Apollo 18 along with camera's on other items of equipment, but as with most things like this, the footage has been denied by NASA to be true. So if you believe in life beyond earth and government cover up's etc then you'll like this a lot more than someone who dosen't.

But to try and even it out for those who don't believe in any of it, it's a good flick to own if you don't mind the documentary style viewing, there's a lot of suspense and good build up moments, more of a phycological horror.

Good movie all round for those who believe and those who don't.
