Boogie Nights is a multi-character epic from much praised director Paul Thomas Anderson. It's a dark and humorous movie that kept me interested from beginning to the end. It does a great job of portraying the seediness of the porno industry in the 70's and 80's and the soundtrack is fantastic. The opening scene is directing at it's finest and Mark Whalberg, Heather Graham and Burt Reynolds are all fantastic. I highly recommend it.

This is a truly epic, funny, expose of the booming porn industry in the late 70s, early 80s. Mark Wahlberg has never been better, and Burt Reynolds gives perhaps his finest ever performance here, close to his acting in Deliverance in 1972. This is truly a riveting, exciting, humourous, incredibly written and acted movie...It could well be in the top ten movies made in the last 50 years... and that is saying something. This should have won the Best Film oscar when it was released. The slightly low budget production values actually ADD to the charm of this film. It is amazing...and MUST be in your collection.

Very amazing movie, couldn't rate it more, only thing is DO NOT BUY REGION 2 EDITION!!! For starters, it has been heavily cropped. Originally filmed in 2:35:1 widescreen, some numbnuts has decided to crop it to 1:85:1, meaning it loses a lot of the picture. Along with that, the colour has been muted heavily, which makes it look pretty shoddy.

For the film as it was intended to be seen, get ANY other edition than this one. The R2 French edition has a DTS track, the R1 edition is 2 disc with loads of extra features. Infact, every other edition has some form of extra feature except this one. So if you want quality, avoid this edition. PlayUSA do the American version at a good price!
