Donnie Brasco may not sound like a great title for a film, it doesn't particulary give any hint about the plot of the film nor does it make you particulary interested in watching it!
However... Donnie Brasco is not to be missed. The performances from both Al Pacino and Johnny Depp are golden, Michael Madsen in his supporting role is also very good. The plot is engaging without the over the top violence seen in many gangster movies.
What I particulary liked about this film is the character of Lefty (Al Pacino) a down and out gangster, always having to do as his told. It's a nice change from seeing Pacino as the Michael Corlenoe type (The Godfather Trilogy) in fact he is the exact opposite, he isn't wealthy, he isn't a high profile mob leader, he is simply Lefty.
In conclusion Donnie Brasco is well worth seeing, giving an interesting look into mob life and showing it from 2 different sides, don't miss it!
