Shamoto runs a small tropical fish shop. His second wife, Taeko, does not get along with his daughter, Mitsuko, and this worries him. One day Mitsuko is caught shoplifting at a grocery store. There they meet a friendly man named Murata, who helps to settle things between Mitsuko and the store manager. Extreme director Shion Sono, a man no stranger to the red stuff (blood) is back with a new gore filled and dark piece. This movie sees a somewhat normal modern day Japanese family slowly fall apart.
The story moves along slowly, it develops the characters one by one and gives you enough depth and details to truly understand their personalities. The speed of the story is a problem, its very slow paced and at times feels like its dragging along, in total it clocks up 2.5 hours.
The acting is fairly standard, some of the performances are more standout than the others, on the whole they all do a good job and don't have a problem convincing the audience.
The movie is dark, the story itself is very dark and the visuals take it to a deeper darker place. At times its so uncomfortable to watch but you'll find it hard to take your eyes away from the screen.
Twists, the movie has a ton of twists and turns around every corner. At first you're not really sure where the movie is going and then all of a sudden the whole world is turned upside down. From there it gets twisted even more and after that the shocks just keep coming.

Overall: It's a good movie, it doesn't really warrant the long running time, but it still won't make you feel bored. It's a movie with twists and turns, you'll never guess where the story is going.
