Dustin Hoffman gives an unforgettable performance as Ratso Rizzo, a scrounging, sleazy small-time con man with big dreams. Jon Voight is magnificent as Joe Buck, the good-looking, naively charming Texan `cowboy' who is convinced that he is the salvation of many lonely, love starved New York Women. These two characters are drawn together in this powerful and compassionate film.

What a great film, Excellent music and some great scenery with New York -- The Old cars, That one scene where the Cowboy ( Voight ) is walking down the street with hundred's of People going about their business, is just awesome - no special effects... You see him there in his Black cowboy hat walking tall. I have seen the same now done many, many times again in the Matrix and others.
Overall a Fantastic film with Voight and Hoffman in Excellent acting form. Wonderful. Hope all you young one's read this and then go and watch this Film Masterpiece. Remember we are ALL Actors.

Mignight Cowboy contains one of Dustin Hoffmans sterling performances, of which he made many. The story revolves around John voights character leaving the small town he lives in and moving to the city, there he becomes a jigolo of sorts, he also meets ratso who he befriends and moves in with. Throughout the course of the film ratso begins to deterioate and his friend can do nothing to stop it. It is great film of pathos, the characters feed off each other and the end result is very impacting. One of the best movies made by schlesinger, one of the best at the time, still one of the best today.
Amazing film
