This is truly one of the most heartwarming and good movies the last few decades. If you are down and feeling moody, then look no further then to the videorack and put this drama/comedy in the DVDplayer and hit play.

Not only does Travolta give a good preformance, but Robert Duvall (Godfather I&II) and Forest Whitaker (Las King of Scotland) also gives exellent preformances.

The plot: We get to know Travoltas character a small town man that lets life slide by with ease. Hes life and those around him are forever changed on a fatal night. Travolta sees a bright light in the sky and are knocked unconsious. After this experience he developes skills beyond the human capacity. He can make small objects move with hes mind, he can read books at the fastest pace (3-4 books a night). All that he reads he learns by heart and he ecels in fields like physics, logistic and geology. He uses hes new skills for good. But as the story goes on, we see the flipside of being changing character as Travolta has done. He is now very bright, and not all the smalltown people take the changes with ease. They start to grow scared of him as he preformes minor miracles on a day to day basis. Those close to him will learn to love him more and more. But the other residents of the small town, looks to him as a freak of nature. And people start to talk about what the true nature of the "UFO/Light" in the sky really was.

Later we all discover the trouth about the light and the government comes into play. They want to find out more about Travoltas capabalitys.

Sorry for spelling errors. But do me a favour.. go buy/rent this movie today.. and remeber it forever.

Customer rating: 1 out of 5 stars The worst film I've ever seen

I've just stumbled accross this item by accident and it reminded me of the worst 2 hours and 3 minutes of my life back in 1996. The film I wanted to see at the cinema was fully booked so I decided I didn't want to waste my journey........ the rest is history. I personally hold Mr Travolta and director Jon Turteltaub responsible for stealing 2 hours of my life that I will never get back. I could have spent the time doing something MORE interesting - like staring at a wall. To summarise the plot - man looks up in the sky, man sees bright light, man blacks out. man installs solar pannels, man buys wicker chairs, man learns Portugese (Very quickly mind you) and finally man pegs it. Mindless rubbish, badly directed, badly acted but most of all the single WORST plot and concept I have ever seen. If I was rich I'd buy ever copy and burn them. Then I'd buy the production company and liquidate them before driving to the writers house and personally demanding the £4 I paid at the cinema to watch it. I've never reviewed a movie online before, but I felt so strongly about this one, I had to warn unsuspecting buyers!
