 Setting the record straight

This is an excellent title that goes in great detail from the talent competition the Jackson 5 won to propel them to motown right up to the conrad murray incident. Some nice stories about Micheal but more importantly than anything it sets the story straight about the child allogations, vitiligo his skin colouring disease, the plastic surgery, his sexuality and more. In the way of performances there are breif highlights of jacksons performances and history concert footage but lot a lot as this is a start to finish story about michael and not his greatest performances etc. It might have gained a 5th star if janet jackson and diana ross had been part of the project, but it did have whitney houston, david guest, his mother catherine and brothers, his manager before he died frank dileo and others. I feel this is a very important title to set the record straight for those who don't know or are not sure of the real Michael. The real Michael Jackson changed pop music forever and was the greatest entertainer the world had ever seen and was a humanitarian - this man gave more to charity than anyone as per the guiness book of records and mostly annonomously and really cared about making the world a better place, especailly for children all over the world.

 Total waste of money

I agree with the person who said that this is a cash in and not a tribute.Produced by David Gest most of the interviews are by himself. In 2 and half hours there are only a couple of short clips of Michael performing and the rest is all talk.If you are a die hard fan and still want to buy it dont waste your money on a blu ray disc because who at the end of the day wants to see David Gest in HD.

 Cash in, NOT a tribute!

This documentary is HORRIBLE! I am a HUGE MJ fan and I was left thoroughly unsatisfied by this work from David Gest, supposedly one of MJ's oldest friends. Simply stated, this movie is woefully structured and clumsily edited. It spends a good hour exploring MJ's childhood and musical journey with the Jackson Five, briefly touches upon the Off The Wall album, then in ten minutes, zooms over Thriller and Bad, Dangerous and Invincible aren't even mentioned! So an indepth film about his life mentions NOTHING about his albums? Instead, we go from the J 5 to the This Is It concerts, then to the molestation court cases, then back again in history to the Pepsi ad hair catching fire incident, then back to the court cases.....? I was shocked by how amateur the whole thing felt. Yes, it has tons of interviews with MJ's mother and only two of his brothers, David Gest pretty much narrates the WHOLE thing!! But where is Janet and the rest of his brothers? Where is rare and precious rehearsal footage? Where, in fact, is Thriller clips, Smooth Criminal clips, the seminal Motown 25 clips? Where are all the things that made MJ successful at all, you might wonder? I was hoping this would be the ultimate tribute movie to MJ but it falls far short of even being an entertaining fluff piece. Save your money, MJ fans. Michael deserves more than this and This ISN'T It!
