I loved it. Twisted and dark, yes, but not without heart or a realistic treatment of its characters. It doesn't hide from the brutality of what being a superhero means. Was worth it just to see Nathan Fillion as the Holy Avenger.

This movie is crazy! What happens when you beat a man with a wrench? You get to see it right here. I like this film better than kick-ass, because this is not ment for the kids. Lots and lots of blood and gore. The crimson bolt is crazy, and I like it!

Better than Kick ass ?? no it is not ... both movies do have similar stuff as in the whole "how come no one ever becomes a super hero" it is funny in places but nothing that will leave you in tears , Ellen Page is just so annoying in this movie you just wanted her to die and lets just say writers knew what most people would be thinking , Kevin bacon is as good as always , Liv tyler just looks out of place in this movie. Its not hyped up as everyone makes it out to be.

Very different to Kick Ass as this is much darker. With KA the violence is very much cartoonish & OTT, but with Super its really gory & brutal. Sometimes the laughs don't mix well with the violence, I can imagine it was a difficult film to market - reminds me a little of Observe & Report with Seth Rogan re: Violence & humour. Not as good as KAss but still well worth a viewing.

If you enjoyed Kick Ass and are looking for something similar then this isn't it. The only comparison you can draw is they both involve ordinary people that don a home made super hero suit.
The film has an underlying depressing tone. Essentially a bit of a social outcast loses his not so rehabilitated junky wife (Sorry Liv) to a drug pusher. He then pretty much has a psychotic episode in which he believes he is touched by God and ordered to fight crime. What follows is pretty violent with the special effects team proving just how realistically gory they can make things look these days. If you find the insanity of people on the edge of breakdown funny then you may enjoy it. In fairness it does show how absurd a person with no skills of any sort might be if they resort to fighting crime so no carefully choreographed fight scenes. Ellen Page is a fantastic actress and she is the only highlight to this depressing, violent film.

Another super hero comedy after enjoyig kick arse 4 star, I thought I'd watch this , well for a start it's much darker , smack injection, violence gore etc the plot is typical wife stolen get her back ..
The side kick bolty is fantastic although too crazy for me,
Another film review on play were you see 5 stars and think I'll get that only to be disappointed I think my 3 star in generous at times the film is so bad it's unwatchable few laugh out loud bits
If you like rain willson get 'the rocker' now that was funny

Okay, so it's a more indie version of Kick Ass. Maybe that's a little harsh, but to refer it to Kick Ass is the obvious choice. Here is a little gem which follows our protagonist and his troubles through life. There is action, gore, humour, story.. the film has it all really. What a lovely way to end my night, although the girlfriend found it a bit too violent in places.

Watch it, tell your friends, get the word out that this film is here, you don't want to miss it.

For me this didn't compare well against Kick-Ass! I didn't find it as funny or as exciting, although Super certainly does have some touching quriky humour amid the brutality. However some of the moments were just too cynical and it lost me a bit in the last act. Having said that, the clever sensitivity of the last scene redeemed the whole experience for me, and lifted the film into a little gem.

Was not sure what to expect it is not the same as kick-ass like another reviewer says. But it is a very good film the main character gets pushed too far and finally snaps and puts on a costume to sort matters out some scenes are really funny. Kevin bacon is great a real nasty git you just want to slap and ellen page is awesome some quite sick scenes i would give it a go you will enjoy it

This is a brilliant and very funny and well made film in every way!! This movie was made on small budget compared to films like kick-ass but it goes a long way!! This movie was quoted as being better than kick-ass, im a big fan of that film and have to strongly agree that Super is just as good for so many different reasons!! The casting for this movie is perfect, everyone in it is brilliant, Ellen page is the one that steals the show she is so fantastic to watch, the level of comedy element is great and will make you laugh guaranteed!! The story is very good too it even at sometimes stops being a joke and can have serious moments, by the end of the film you feel for the characters and feel like you have had a blast with all the action too, theres plenty of bloody and at times pretty gory violence!! If you loved kick-ass or like superhero comedy or just want to watch a fun filled movie that you may even relate too then you have to see Super!! Gem of the year!!
