Cars fly, trees fight back and a mysterious elf comes to warn Harry Potter at the start of the second year of his amazing journey into the world of wizardry. This year at Hogwarts, spiders talk, letters scold and Harry's own unsettling ability to speak to snakes turns his friends against him. From dueling clubs to rogue Bludgers, it's a year of adventure and danger when bloody writing on a wall announces: "The Chamber of Secrets has been opened". To save Hogwarts will require all of Harry, Ron and Hermione's magical abilities and courage in this spellbinding adaptation of J.K. Rowling's second book. Get ready to be amused and petrified as Harry Potter shows he's more than a wizard, he's a hero!

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, the second installment in the Harry Potter series, follows Harry, Ron and Hermione through their second year at Hogwarts School. The DVD delivers another adventure with more magic, more laughs and more thrills. It has 19 additional/extended scenes, self-guided tours including background characters, an exclusive interview with author J.K. Rowling and screenwriter Steve Kloves and all-new interactive challenges.

The most entertaining of all the Harry Potter films is really quite good. There are actually a few scares in here too with the giant spiders and a Basilisk. I thought it really captured the essence of the book and inspired me to read them all. When a film does that you know it's good. The special effects and action scenes are directed very well and although it is a bit long, you won't really notice because it is quite enthralling. Quidditch is spot on and the trio actually seem to have quite a good relationship in this one, unlike in the Goblet of Fire and the awful fifth film. A milestone in the series and unequalled until the sixth film was released.

Film 2 in the Harry Potter is essentially more of the same. The plot doesn't really progress but it does allow for introductions to new cast members including the Weasley family.
However what makes this film superior to the first (and in my mind the rest of the films) is the sheer entertainment this film throws out.
There are hunderds of comedy moments (Ron pukeing slugs is a highlight).
But the real gem is Kenneth Branagh who steals the film whatever scene he is in with a fantastic comedy performance as Gilderoy Lockheart.
As with before the SFX are spectacular and the finale is once again to die for.
It may be to long for some people, director Chris Columbus seems to think that every bit of the book must be re-produced and to an extent this lets him down, but at the end of the day you can look past this as he does bring to the screen the most entertaining childrens film ever!!
