  WOW what a film!

When I went to see this movie I wasnt expecting to much but omg I was so wrong. This film gets you from the start and doesnt let go until the end, its the sort of film that you cant stop thinking about all the way home and has you talking about it for days. I am an avid horror fan and can usually take anything, I love scary films the most bacause they are the ones that stay with you, but I can quite honestly say that this film really got to me the twists and turns in this film kept me on the edge of my seat and nearly to a point where I almost couldnt watch any more. The best film of the decade in my opinion as it blows films like the grudge and paranormal activity out of the water. Be prepared to be really scared.

  Jumped out of my seat!

I watched Insidious at the cinema one afternoon not long after it had been released (with my other half who is a self confessed wimp!) I love horror films and can honestly say I have not seen one that scared the life out of me since I watched Halloween when I was 10. I watched the trailer and thought it was worth a watch but was expecting it to be a disappointment, so many 'new school' horrors promise so much but fail to deliver. But from the start Insidious had the right mix of story and scary parts. I actually jumped and screamed out loud twice which was quite embarrassing!! A really good film well worth a watch by any horror fan, although I do feel the ending let it down and was a bit far fetched. I'll be buying this, and hoping it works as well on DVD as it did on the big screen. Definitely more scary than a lot of 18's I've seen!

  seriously scary

Now, I have to say I consider myself to be very good with scary films. Paranormal activity I found boring and didn't make me scared or even make me jump the odd time! Also I would like to say that I have been waiting a very long time for a good scary film to come out. Then comes incidious!......
This film is amazing! It makes you jump a lot and even when you think you're ready youakre not!
This is a definite must see and a seriously scary film! I already have it on pre-order!
I do need to say though if when you buy this its your first time watching it I would advise you turn the lights off and the volume up as that really helps the effects! Enjoy!

  Insidious or poltergeist??

| | See all Rachel1614's reviews (1)

All you have to do is look at the front cover to know weather or not this will be a good film.
It screams out poltergeist rip off throughout.
A very disappointing film, with a make-up artist who must of just past her face painting course! I have seen children walking round with more realistic devil faces at halloween!
All in all a good cheesy sunday afternoon film, with a hint of paranormal activity, poltergeist, and house of wax in places!

  Trailer good, Film bad!!!

I'm a huge horror fan and I was very excited to see this movie. I've seen a lot of horror movies and this by far was the best. It's tense, creepy, jumpy and has a great storyline. The whole cinema was on the edge of their seats! I recommend this movie to anybody who enjoys a horror. It's a must see movie!

  GOOD OLD SCHOOL HORROR!!!

| | See all PATCHES1989's reviews (518)

I quite enjoyed this film for what it was and thats an old school horror that scares. Personally i didnt get scared like some of the other reviewers but it did make me jump once or twice. The story was well told and the suspense was well placed to ensure the scares. Its about a boy who when he dreams travels to the afterlife but one night he gets caught by the demons who want to travel to the world of the living. Very inventive horror and quite satisfying but not the scariest film you'll ever see. Enjoy

One of the best films of 2011!

I saw this with some of my friends on Friday 13th of may for my birthday and couldn't believe how much it actually made me jump, normally it takes a lot to make me jump but this film managed it. Me and all my friends were all sat wih our feet on the chairs in front, because we thought something might try to get us :L. Anyway like i said by far on of the best films of 2011 x

A brilliant horror thriller with plenty of scares.

It's about a boy who can travel in his dreams to the world of the dead. He gets stuck and has to fight off a demon. Who will save him?

Excellent horror thriller, from the creators of SAW. Yes, it is far-fetched in areas and gets quite graphic, but it's gripping, scary and has a strong story, cast and thus experience. The ending will be criticised, but this still does not take away from a truly great modern film for it's genre, a top 10 film of 2011 too.

I must note that the loud sounds used add to the shocks, thrills and tension parts, that pop up continually.

The film also stars Lyne Shaye (the old lady from There's Something About Mary and Kingpin), Barbara Hershey (the mother from Black Swan) and Patrick Wilson (Lakeview Terrace).
