This movie is basically a retreading of familiar ground, and has the same premise as most other slasher movies: there is a crazed killer on the loose and a group of friends are being bumped off one by one. The story is rather contrived and involves four friends (Jennifer Love Hewitt, Freddie Prinze Jr, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Ryan Phillipe) running over a man during a drunken night of partying. However, instead of doing the right thing and informing the police of what happened, they decide to cover it up and forget the entire event. Of course, as is usual in this genre, bad things follow. The member of the cast who performs best (though it isn't hard to compete with Freddie Prinze Jr or Jennifer Love Hewitt) is Sarah Michelle Gellar, who portrays Helen, the token blonde who is terrorised the most. Overall, three stars. It's nowhere near as witty and scary as Scream, but there are a few creepy moments. See if you like Buffy star Sarah, slasher movies, or films about a guy with a big hook.

this is a superb horror film of the modern era and goes that step further to what scream did.
scream reinvented the genre and this is the next step ahead from the scream trilogy.
this film stars the sexiest people on the planet, not to mention really talented (they are of course Sarah michelle gellar(buffy),Ryan Phillipe(cruel intentions with gellar),jennifer love hewitt(ghost whisperer)and freddie prinze jr(from everything).
these stars breathe new life into the slasher genre and is in league with the scream trilogy and final destination trilogy.
the killer is an origional take on the old hook man urban legend(makes a reference) and reinvents it as the hooked fisherman.
I saw this film when i was quite young and new to the genre (when buffy first started)and it scared me a lot.
it is very suspenseful and is a very creative whodonnit (like how scream was).
it has cool death scenes and sarah michelle gellar deserved her emmy for best supporting actress in a horror/thriller movie.
it is really good watch it because I STILL KNOW WHAT YOU DID!!!
