This is a series that pulls you in, and drip feeds you, from the start to its conclusion, it is very watchable, and if you dont want to watch with subtitles, then all are dubbed, and dubbed pretty well in sync too....Ive now watched it twice, in the short time I have owned it, If you like a thriller, that keeps you guessing, and reveals the inner workings of the main characters slowly, then I recommend this for you....

If you enjoy thrillers then this trilogy is for you. Forget all the hollywood-esque theatre and sit back and watch a well acted, well crafted story which at times is uncomfortable, compelling, exciting and intriguing....!!! Watch the films close together otherwise you are in danger of forgotting some components of the storyline which might make viewing a little difficult to follow at times. If you enjoy this type of thriller then invest in other similar thrillers/dramas such as 'The Killing' and 'Spiral'.....! Enjoy

The story revolves around a small magazine company (Millenium)and also a female reporter who works freelance for them 'Lizbeth '( The girl with the dragon tattoo)the film delves in to her upbringing while the magazine uncover a sinister organisation ,There is an option for english audio which makes it easier going as you only have to concentrate on what's going on without reading at the same time (well , you know we men can't multitask )

I was a little bit disapointed: the DVDs contain either a Swedish version with integrated English subtitles or just the English version WITHOUT subtitles. I bought this trilogy for my father who was looking forward to an English subtitled English spoken version. Bummer!

Having thoroughly enjoyed the books I bought the extended DVD trilogy. We watched each 3-hour film dubbed in English rather than in Swedish with subtitles and were completely absorbed. The films were 90+ % true to the books. Acting, scenary and atmosphere were superb. Books and films have been the most gripping I have come accross for a long time. If you bought the 2 hour versions I feel you may have well missed out.

One of the finest Trilogies Ever...

*This is a great trilogy that is very well made. The story is hard hitting and full of substance.
*If you missed these DVD's the first time this is a great opportunity to catch up. This time the each film has been split into 2x 90 minute parts (6 parts & 9 hours in total). This makes it easier to watch as the original films could be quite heavy going. Each part has a recap making it feel almost like a television boxset.
*The films stay very close to the books but a few bits have been missed out but i feel this is due to the fact the films are long enough already. The first film is the best individual film as the sequels are made to carry on from the first film, even so they are still great films. Overall a boxset well worth buying.

Excellent but with a couple of niggles...

I think like with any movie where you've read the original book first, you're possibly going to be disappointed if the film and book aren't exactly the same, or bits have been missed out. But considering most books are hundreds of pages long, they're never going to be able to fit every last detail into a film. Anyway, the point I'm getting at is you might watch this and think hm, but what about this bit, or that bit, but overall the story is captured brilliantly and had I not read the books, I would have been none the wiser about certain parts being missed, as it flows very well regardless. The acting is brilliant, especially Noomi Rapace who I could totally believe in as Lisbeth.
One thing I was bothered about though, and it may be something that is due to a setting on my dvd player or me being very "untechnical", is the settings for the language - even if I choose original Swedish dolby with English subtitles, I still get it with American voices dubbed over the top, something I find very off-putting. I love foreign films and it doesn't bother me in the slightest having to listen to a language I don't understand as long as there are subtitles, but I really don't like watching something where what I'm hearing doesn't tie in with the lip movements! Any help with this please?
My advice though - watch these, and forget about the books if you have read them as it will more than likely put you off what is actually a very good piece of work.
