What a brilliant piece of writing and acting this is.
I have never seen the old Sherlock Holmes films and when I heard that it had been re-made for the BBC in present day London,I didn't bat an eyelid.
So what! I thought,I won't be watching.
So many of my friends raved about it that in the end I thought,I'll give it a go (What did I have to lose).
The stories are superbly written by Stephen Moffat and Mark Gatiss and the acting of Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman as Holmes and Watson is brilliant.
You are transported in to the mind of an eccentric genius who is brought back to reality and kept in check by his loyal and faithful friend Dr John Watson.
Throw in random appearances by Sherlocks older brother Mycroft Holmes who works for Her Majestys Government, Det Inspector Lestrade of the Yard , Molly Hooper who works in the morgue at the Hospital and the loyal Mrs Hudson ( the housekeeper ) and you have a brilliant series. Well worth watching, 5 stars and can't wait for season 3.

 Love the new Sherlock.

OMG, I've died and gone to heaven. I recorded both series while they were on tv, but I just had to buy the DVD's. I've watched them so much, I'm almost word perfect. Desperate to find out how Sherlock "did it". Roll on Series Three. To start with I watched them with subtitles because I missed so much first time round.
Excellent acting, fab plots in a modern setting. Once I'd got into the mindset of there never having been a Victorian Sherlock, I was able to accept this one. I'm old enough to remember Basil Rathbone!!!

 Absolutly Brilliant!

This was the first time of watching the sherlock tv series and it was amazing. It has you trying to work everything out for yourself and still end up completely outstanded. Cant believe I missed the first series!
