In the highly acclaimed Stake Land, hailed by some critics as "the American horror film of the year", the US has become a lost nation. When an epidemic of vampirism strikes, humans find themselves on the run. Cities are tombs and survivors cling together in rural pockets, fearful of nightfall. When his family is slaughtered, young Martin (Connor Paolo) is taken under the wing of a grizzled, wayward hunter whose new prey are the undead. Simply known as Mister (Nick Damici), he takes Martin under his wing on a journey through the locked-down towns of America's heartland, battling against not only feral vampires but also the fanatical savagery of the right wing religious cult known as The Brotherhood, in search of the fabled safe haven, New Eden.

Not sure what the other reviewer was watching and giving the whole plot line away is a bit sour. This is a good film well worth a watch its a horror movie ok not as good as zombieland but its not really meant to be the same. The special effects are good and the vampires are scary i would give it a go if you enjoy vampire style films you will like this

There are so many vampire movies out there some are bad others just lead the way like Stake land, this is a very cool very well made horror, its a bit like the walking dead but with vampires, the story follows a group of survivors who are trying to find the way to safety from the world becoming blood thirsty undead and psycho religious cannibals! The effects are great plenty of bloody violence for gore fans, there has not really been any vampire movies this year and this is by far the best one in a while, worth picking up if youre a horror fan, it may not be the most original one ever but its worth the stakes!

This is a good film, not the average zombie film, a boy and Mr as the boy knows him, works realy well looking after each other. I felt for the pregnant girls demize, but the ending is good, leaves you thinking normality might be achieved.

 Sweet horror film!

This film is simply excellent. The acting, casting, cinematography, score....all strong. Was great to see that a film, let alone a horror film, can be produced without ridiculous amounts of CGI, (I am legend, Blade 2/3 etc), to undermine it. A simple story about survival, humanity and hope without ever being heavy about it's tone. Light's off, feet-up, enjoy!
