Review

The railroad's bound to run right through the sleepy tow of Rock Ridge. Land there will be worth a fortune - but the townsfolk already own their own land. How do you drive them out? Send in the roughest, toughest, meanest, leanest gang you've got...and appoint a new sheriff you figure will last about 24 hours. But that's not really the plot of Blazing Saddles, just the pretext. Once Mel Brooks' lunatic film - many call it his best - gets under way, logic is lost in a blizzard of gags, jokes, quips, puns, howlers, growlers and outrageous assaults upon good taste - or any taste at all.

There are a lot of 'comedies' made with the promise that it is hilarious and will make you laugh out loud. Only a handfull of them actually achieve this. Blazing Saddles is one of them.

Mel Brooks is the master of dealing with prejudice and bigotry by exposing them for what they are using humour and holding them up to ridicule.

It doesn't matter that the plot, such as it is, is sporadic and towards the end it almost falls apart just enjoy all the gags but be careful not to blink or you might miss one it's so full of them.

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars Hilarious but highly un-PC

This has to be Mel Brooks' finest comedy. However in this day and age it is highly unpolitically correct, that being said it is told in a period of American history where the use of the deroatory terms would have been commonplace. Anyway, whatever, the fact is this is one of the funniest films of all time and if you like comedy's; you'll love this.
