In Another Earth, Rhoda Williams (Marling), a bright young woman accepted into MIT's astrophysics program, aspires to explore the cosmos. A brilliant composer, John Burroughs (Mapother), has just reached the pinnacle of his profession and is about to have a second child. On the eve of the discovery of a duplicate Earth, tragedy strikes and the lives of these strangers become irrevocably intertwined.

 Amazing, True Talent

This film is a great great story with an extremely amazing plot, mixing the drama and life, with the si-fi element of a hidden duplicate earth in the sky. Telling the story "What if there is another You? And Did tht you make the same mistakes as you did?, are they smarter, richer, or even just as unfortunate?" .. And it follows the story of a young girl who has been put in prison for sadly killing a young child and his mum in a car crash, only leaving her and the father alive.

When she eventually gets out she wants to apologize to the man but loses her nerve and makes up a whole new life and works for him. While this is happening she has a cleaning job and hears about the new competition to win a flight to earth 2, she applies and wins.
Im not telling the rest and it is just a ruff summery, BUY IT IT IS SOOOOOOO WORTH THE MONEY SERIOUSLY!

 Misleading film title and description

This film gets a zero rating for me based on the marketing of the film as a sci-fi film. It's not... it's a drama. The "Another Earth" angle is exploited to such an extent that it has nothing to do with the film at all, other than to make the main protagonists (and ourselves as the viewer) think about "what if".

So, the story.. it's about a young lady who crashes into another car. The accident is her fault. She goes to jail and is released after 4 years. She then goes to the home of the only survivor of the car crash and interacts with him in the guise of a "cleaner for hire". That's basically it. The story evolves with them getting to know each other more and moving on.

So what does this have to do with "Another Earth". Nothing.

A very wierd premise for a basic drama and that's why it gets a thumbs down from me, for being deceitful in it's description.

 Wonderful drama, not a sci-fi

If you're looking for a good sci-fi movie, this movie has almost nothing to do with sci-fi. Yet, it's a very good movie. So, it depends on what you are after.
A bright girl, set for a successful career, gets jailed for a few years. When she's out again, her life is completely different, but the quest for an impossible forgiveness leads her to an unexpected life-changing encounter.
This movie is about characters, relationship, growth and self-discovery. Acting is very good and characters are realistic.
I came upon this movie while reading Brit Marling's bio. As she didn't like the parts she was offered (just the cute blond), she wrote a script for herself. So I was curious. Well, boy, she was right!

 Awful awful awful

Simply awful film never written a review on here before but just had to warn people to not waste there time.

Spent the whole film waiting for something to happen, it has the potential base plot line to be soo much better. Basically young girl crashes into family killing all but the father, she goes to apologise but looses her bottle, so pretends to be a cleaner. All while there's a second earth, she wins a ticket and gives it to him as its suppose to be a parallel planet.

That's it! Boring.

 another awful movie

I couldn't agree more with the review below. This film is awful, the title is so misleading. Earth 2 is mentioned so many times in the film, after all that's wat its supposed to be about, and you look forward to seeing this other earth as you think "what if" there was another earth? It starts off really slow, and you think its going to get more interesting and exciting anytime now....but Unfortunately it doesn't. The best part of the film is the end, when she see's something (won't mention as it will spoil the film) and your heart sinks a bit and you think, oh my god and then the film finishes. Just as it gets into it, it finishes.
An absolutely dreadful film, it had the potential to be an extremely beautiful film with a huge learning curve about science and space etc, and i will say its a good acting cast, you can't fault them for that, but its a dreadful film with no excitement what so ever. Please don't waste your money on this pile of chosh!
