Based on the critically acclaimed, best-selling book, Ang Lee brings one boy's spectacular journey to the big screen in the book that was considered un-filmable...

A young man who survives a disaster at sea is hurtled into an epic journey of adventure and discovery. While cast away, he forms an unexpected connection with another survivor... a fearsome Bengal tiger.

In my opinion this is the best 3D film of 2012 filled with brilliant and even breathtaking 3d sences! Yes, I highly recommend this film not only to animal lovers, but to all people young and old!

I never saw this in the cinema in all it's 3D glory, this is now regrettable, but on retail release I took the risk and purchased it without previously watching it before hand. The first half hour I was wondering what all the fuss was about with all it's religious rambling back story, but as soon as the film sets sail I was treated to a simple story that was so well told. The stranding of Pi and the Bengal Tiger on the lifeboat as at first enemies then teaming to survive the elements and have a mutual respect is so well done. It's not Doctor Doolittle as the Tiger could at any time turn on Pi and have him for lunch, but it's this balance that makes the two stars such a delight to watch. The visuals far exceed anything Avatar did as the ocean is alive with colour and life. I was captivated and by the end wanted the two to become friends, but the film is smart enough to fall into a over sentamental cop out and leaves you guessing if this was all a figment of Pi's imagination to cope with the trauma of being lost at sea. It's outstandingly directed by Ang Lee, brilliantly acted by a unknown and jaw dropping in it's beauty. By the end of the film you kind of understand what the tedious first half hour was about. Life of Pi has to be seen in 3D on the biggest screen possible.
