I've read some of the less than flattering reviews of Skyfall and just had to give my 2 pence.
From start to finish I loved this film. I'm a massive James Bond nerd and have seen every film far too many times for it to be considered healthy!
Some people seem to have an irrational view that Bond shouldn't be blonde haired and blue eyed, to this I'd point out that times change and without a doubt in my mind Daniel Craig is as good a Bond as there has ever been. Having a black haired, darker skinned Bond that fits Fleming's description might be loyal to the books but what current actor can match Craig?
I did love one persons comment about Bond falling off the bridge being unrealistic and how he'd have been dead.... I would remind the poster that we've had invisible cars, submersible cars, flying cars, space stations, lasers galore and God only knows how many implausible gadgets BUT Bond falling off the bridge in Skyfall was unrealistic?!?
People compare the fight style to Jason Bourne. I see similarities undoubtedly but Bond is Bond. He is not Bourne and never will be. Bourne is a very one dimensional character, dull and aside from him being one man against the CIA, FBI and any of the other seemingly useless US agencies what interest is there for the audience? Bond has more depth and personality in his little finger (Casino Royale reference) than Bourne has in his entire being.
The story in Skyfall is one of the strongest in recent Bond movies and the score is fantastic. Each actor is on top form and I praise Sam Mendes for what is an excellent action debut.
I could go on but my wife will probably divorce me if I do!
Long may Daniel Craig be Bond, because 'nobody does it better'!!
