It's the story of Jason (Todd Armstrong), a fearless sailor and explorer, who returns to the kingdom of Thessaly after a 20-year voyage to make his rightful claim to the throne. But to do so, Jason must first find the magical Golden Fleece. He selects a crew and with the help of Hera, Queen of the Gods, sets sail in search of the Fleece. Jason and his crew must overcome incredible obstacles including a 100-foot bronze giant, the venomous Hydra, a huge creature with the heads of seven snakes, and a spectacular battle with an army of skeletons.

 Childhood memory springs back :P

Hi there :)

I am an overseas student from Thailand having great memory on my VHS tape on this film long time back. I could vaguely remember the story of the golden fleece quest with amazing voyage getting through all incredible difficulties. This would have been impossible without Hera's (Queen of the gods) help, even limited to just only 5 times.

At first being hopeless searching for this film due to my mom's desire being able to memorize "Jason" as the main character. Also, this comes into a translated name in Thai, which is totally different. I was lucky enough to have come across an interview with Ray Harryhousen and realized it from his filmography. I am so glad I have found this for my mom because she always loves this film. I will bring this back to her when I am done with my study.

Having said that I bought it with full pleasure of old memory. The quality of this DVD is so absolutely amazing (consider it higher than normal expectation on 1963 film) that makes me enjoyable and thinking back when I was a kid. Extra features also make this DVD the best for collection and completion of behind the scene plus special effects techniques. (Fighting with a fleet of skeleton is y favourite scene.)

In short, this DVD is highly recommended for a person who has not seen this film before and those who love it like me. Big thanks to 'Play.com'.

Cheers,
Milkykung :)

 Great old film

It's one of those rare films that'll never completely vanish from our screens. Stop animation that will bring back all sorts of memories makes it a film that you have GOT to add to your collection.

although it pops up on tv about once a month, this classic from ray harryhausen is a must.picture quality is excellent.this is one of the best of this type of film and needs no remake (clash of the titans--no thanks).a real gem and a fantastic price.a film that never gets old, unlike its audience.

 TIMELESS

The ones who will complain about this movie are the same set that complained that the original 1981 version of Clash of the Titans was dated and boreing, so if that's the case don't bother!
But for us who grew up on this movie and the likes of Sinbad and Titans then this is the perfect time to catch up on it.
The bad news is pretty obvious as the movie has not aged well, it's not a problem with the fantastic Ray (Clash of the Titans 1981 ) Harryhausen's stop motion effects it's the wooded acting, that the effects out perform and out animate as soon as they are up on screen. But this film is never about acting weight ,it's about escapism, and in this it succeeds on almost every level. Once the story is up and going this is still brilliant fun from the Vennomous seven headed Hydra to the brilliant battle with the Skeletons to the show stopping fight with the Bronze Spartan giant, that when I first saw this movie on TV at aged around two really did test if I was toilet trained ore not when the Giant slowly titls it's head when it comes to life, it was awesome then and still is brilliantly captured.
Dated or not this is outstanding escapism.
Although this movie did have a the injustice of a 2000 rubbish TV movie remake, with Titans having the once over, now could be the best time to revisit this ageless classic and give it a respectful re-vamp...gods willing!
See if you liked.
