  Great Series

I don't know how you can give this series 1 star, it deserves at least four. The reason being that Doctor Who is always a mixed bag because there is always 5-7 different writers each season. So some episode you will love and others you will hate. But almost all of the episodes this season I loved, especially The Doctors Wife (Neil Gaiman), the impossible astronaut and day of the moon (Steven Moffat). Matt Smitt, Karen Gillian and Arthur Darvill have great chemistry as they always feel like a family aboard the TARDIS, which is welcome change to the usual romance between Doctor and companion.

Better but still not quite there ...

Series 6 was far, far better than the dire series 5, but Moffats overwhelming insistance to make his own mark is distracting - the River Song plot is done to death - does anybody care who she is?Indeed, fans had guessed months before the so called 'game changing' episode as to her identity. Many of us were expectng somehting far more original. And as for all this marrying the Doctor stuff.... hmmm. Let's just go against one of the major characteristics of the Doctor shall we? Its all been done now and needs to go but sadly she is back in series 7.
Also... the Doctor himself. My Doctor wouldn't turn a blind eye to several lifeforms being gunned down as in the end of ep 2. Totally out of character and smacks f the author writing himself into a corner and not knowing how to get out of it properly. "Lets gun 'em down then!" Lazy. Would never have happend pre 2010.
And the companions ... Amy is one of the most unlikeable companions ever - sits with Peri and Mel for me and Im so glad she is going. Rory however has actually developed! And is now one of the most fleshed out male companions ever - who'd have thought it?

The best episodes of series 6 were those not handled by Moffat, these episodes seemed to be the freshest and without the hinderence of the annoying 'oh the Doctor is going to die again for the third year in a row' plotline seemed to flourish better.

The only saving grace from the Moffat written scripts this year was the superb Madame Kovarian who has the potential to be the Servalan of Doctor Who. With the mighty Frances Barber in the role, she needs much better material - here is our new big bad!

This series isn't bad ... its just struggling to indulge all the ideas presented - visually its great and looks glossy in places with some beautiful direction but sadly its still not fully recognisable as Doctor Who. Series 7 needs to bring back monsters. It needs better stories which make sense and needs to jettison the now boring story arc. It needs an older actress to play the companion and most of all it needs energy to reignite the waning interests of the regular viewer. This I'm not actually sure Moffat can deliver and I fear for the 50th anniversary which is in danger of not being special at all (at the current rate) ... but fingers crossed ...

Better and better, with twists and turns...

DW just continues to get better and better! Twists, turns and stories that can be watched on so many different levels, from a child-like awe of the fun of it all, to an adult understanding of the nuances of the intricate story (both in each episode/story and the series arc).

  A mixed bag

I am a big Doctor Who fan and really wanted to like this series but there was something missing. The opening two episodes really showed Matt Smith at his best as the Doctor but from there on it just didn't work. Anyone who has watched Doctor Who since it relaunched in 2005 knows that all the episodes are linked by a word or phrase which keeps popping up but in this series I when the finale came I felt it was all a bit of a anti climax and many questions were left unanswerd. Still worth a watch but not the best series in my opinion.

This series was amazing! the best thing about it for me has to be River. i love her to bits lol. i hope to get ths box set for christmas. i only gave it 4 stars because it doesn't look like there are any out-takes on it which i love so much. cannot wait to watch Doctor/River kissing when ever i like haha :D. Steven Moffat and the other writers are all geniuses

  best series yet

I could not disagree more with the reviewer who gave this series only one star. Sure this series is not 100% perfect but I have found Steven Moffat and Matt Smith's work on Doctor Who the best to date. Some storylines from the last series have come over to this one, with The Doctor still trying to find out why slience will fall, An impossable Astronaurt kills The Doctor 200 years in his future, who is the Astronaurt and why is The Doctor's death a fixed point in time. Amy must try not to tell Their Doctor, 200 years younger when she see him again that she, Rory and River Song saw this. River's back story is also told and how she meet The Doctor for the first time.

I think this series is great. It sets up series 7 and continues with what Doctor Who is about, wonderful nonsense about a mad man with a box.

  Dullest Series since the 1980s

Not a fan of River Song. I thought this season was the dullest and most convoluted in years and the characters never engaged me. It was massively diappointing
