Peter Berg (Hancock) produces and directs Battleship, an epic-scaled action-adventure that unfolds across the seas, in the skies and over land as our planet fights for survival against a superior force. Inspired by Hasbro's classic naval combat game, Battleship stars Taylor Kitsch as Lt. Alex Hopper, a Naval officer assigned to the USS John Paul Jones; Brooklyn Decker as Sam Shane, a physical therapist and Hopper's fiancée; Alexander Skarsgård as Hopper's older brother, Stone, Commanding Officer of the USS Sampson; Rihanna as Petty Officer Raikes, Hopper's crewmate and a weapons specialist on the USS John Paul Jones; and international superstar Liam Neeson as Hopper and Stone's superior (and Sam's father), Admiral Shane.

Berg directs this epic action-adventure also produced by Scott Stuber (Couples Retreat), Sarah Aubrey (The Kingdom), Brian Goldner and Bennett Schneir of Hasbro (the Transformers franchise), along with Duncan Henderson (Master and Commander) and Jeffrey Silver (300). The film is written by Jon Hoeber & Erich Hoeber (Red).

The battle for Earth begins at sea.

Beats me why people need to bring down these blockbuster movies, they are purely for fun and excitement and Battleship delivers on all accounts, its a fantastic budget film with spot on visual effects and amazing aliens which I have to agree with some other reviews are very close to looking like characters from the halo video games (which just goes to show how awesome a halo movie would look) The cast is ok, your usual type cast characters but who cares you know the good guys are going to win before you see this type of movie, the story was pretty cool, maybe its been done before but who cares, this was exactly what I expected it to be and more its a fun filled action blockbuster that deserves more credit. Its big no brainer popcorn fun and I advise you to get it.

This Film actually started well, and I went ignoring the other reviews that I had seen slating it. But thought I would actually give it go.
As I said it started well, and was actually quite funny in places, it was when the film took a turn and started going massively Patriotic and had characters asking help from WW2 pearl harbour veterans to help them. even though they prob are so old they cant even move properly or even know what day it is, let alone load a massive explosive round into a battle ships cannon??
I was actually laughing out loud in the cinema.... Now I have seen cheesey films but this just took a whole new level, just deadful.

Rihanna was hot though :)

Like many I was skeptical about this movie upon release but i must say it was a brilliant action/sci fi film based loosely on the board game. Liam Neeson was the big attraction here as the fleet leader. Aliens invade the Pacific coastline in Hawaii after NASA attracts them via a satellite signal and its up to the US Navy to clean up the mess. Story is so so but action and entertainment means its not one to miss. Enjoy

After so many negative and so so reviews in the media i found myself reluctant to give this film the time of day but circumstances drew me towards my local cinema anyway.after a brief intro then it really kicked in.i am also baffled by the many negative reviews of what is basically a big budget popcorn blockbuster which i thought was superb.great.stunning visuals.fast pace.some superb set pieces and terrific action.i was hooked.miles better than any-all three of the transformers films i was so impressed i went back again twice more.not many films i can say that about.ignore the haters, take it for what it is,a loud, brash, over the top delight.
