The king of yakuza epics Takeshi Kitano (Brother, Zatoichi, Hana-Bi, Sonatine) returns with his most violent gangster film yet.

Mr. Chairman, the head of the ruling Sannokai yakuza clan, suspects that his henchman Ikemoto has struck a forbidden alliance with rival gangster Murase. Ikemoto tries to quell his boss' distrust by making a move against Murase, marking the start of a ruthless series of conflicts and betrayals. Before long, several yakuza clans are out for blood in their constant battle for power and money. The rival bosses fight to rise through the ranks by scheming and making short-lived allegiances. In this corrupt world where there are no heroes, it's a bad guy vs. bad guy in a spiralling outrage of gang warfare.
  • Suitable for 18 years and over. Not for sale to persons under age 18. By purchasing this product, you declare that you are 18 years of age and over.

Great, heart pounding and hard hitting japanese gangsters!

Outrage is by far the best Yakuza film i've seen in ages. The story hasn't got the innocent hero like most hollywood gangster films, instead you see how the bad guys sort it out. It has subtle plot twists and keeps you guessing the outcome right till the last scene. Extremely violent in parts but this violence is done when required and isn't just for the sake of shocking the watcher. In all a great Yakuza film in my top ten.

Kitano goes back to his Yakuza roots with this movie, a story of double crossing, back stabbing and taking over. It's ultimately a can of worms, one small event which turns the whole Yakuza underworld upside down.
Much like Kitano's other movies this is well paced, it keeps the same pace all the way through and it won't bore you for a second. Although the story has a lot of elements, a lot of things happening and a lot of people its not hard to keep up with.
Unfortunately Outrage is nothing special, it's a typical gangster flick and nothing new. It lacks those special areas which Kitano is so famous for, those small artistic and symbolic moments which got him recognition with Zatoichi.

Overall: Outrage is a good Yakuza flick, it has a good plot and its sure to keep you entertained. At times its quite bloody and violent but doesn't go too far.
