Crazy Stupid Love

Crazy Stupid Love is one of those typical modern day romance movies, its not all about boy meets girl, they fight but in the end they get back together. No, its much more real than that, the kind of romantic havoic that happens to many of the less fortunate.
Steve Carrell is once again proving that he is master of comedy. He's known for a lot of his over the top stupid characters, but in this one he pulls off a more down to earth and dry comedy, much like Little Miss Sunshine. There's plenty of laughs, but also he gets you where it hurts most, in the heart. His performance is genuine and real, it's stupid and times but for the most part is heartwrenching.
The story is well written, it starts off a bit dull and seems like its not going to be all that good, but as it moves on it gets better and better. It gets funnier as it goes on, and gets even more touching at the same time.

Overall: This is a winner, its a good rom-com, perhaps heavier on the romance than the comedy, but still it's got all the ingredients to make you laugh and make you cry.

Ryan Gosling with a spray tan and a gym membership could sell any movie(especially for my wife). But if girls queue up to witness the fitness, Crazy Stupid Love is really a male-odrama with equal appeal for the fellas.
Your first clue that this movie is more interesting than its title? Not many Hollywood romcoms have more directors than screenwriters.
Deftly knitted together by scribe Dan Fogelman (Tangled) and directors Glenn Ficarra and John Requa (I Love You Phillip Morris), the plot splinters out of the shattered life of happily married Cal (Steve Carell), who discovers his wife (Julianne Moore) has cheated and wants a divorce. Cal's not the only one in a pickle, his son (Jonah Bobo) yearns for the babysitter, the babysitter yearns for Cal and his wife is dating co-worker Kevin Bacon. Enter slick pick-up artist Jacob (Ryan Gosling) to transform Cal from loser into playa. As Jacob gives Cal a man-over and unleashes him on barfly Marisa Tomei, the script brings the smarts but the cast bring the heart. Carell's the sincere everyman wearing his broken heart on his sleeve, while Gosling is effortlessly smooth and, crucially likeable enough to dodge the character's in built sleaze. You'll wish it dug a little deeper into its characters not least Emma Stone, massively cool in an underwritten role but it's a romcom that puts smart moves on genre conventions. It's a funny movie that tiptoes into serious adult pain, and it's full of witty touches from Cal's agonising Velcro wallet to Stone demanding an R-rated bedroom scene with Gosling. Fair enough this boy is top shelf.
Not a bromance, not a girlie romcom, near perfect. Crazy Stupid Love is funnier, smarter and more touching than your average cut out and keep Hollywood relationship flick.
If like me the last thing you wanted to see was a date flick, don't be put off, this is a movie blokes will like just as much as the women.

Ryan Gosling......swoon. Shirtless......WOW! Enough of that - this film is fabulously funny and makes you care about all the central characters, willing everything to work out. I also want Hannah's sassy best friend to be my sassy best friend!

Watched this originally at the cinema with my other half. Now its been released I have purchased for my collection. Not typically a Rom Com kind of person but I loved this. The jokes are subtle but hillarious and there is a charecter that everyone can relate too. A good strong cast of actors and great storyline as their lives all intertwine with eachother. Also...a nice bit of eye candy for the ladies!!! Ding Dong Mr Gosling!!! Phhew! And my husband would kill me for saying it, but he really enjoyed this movie too. He was suprised he liked a "chick flick" as usually he can not bare them..but he was pleased I purchased this for our collection as he found the movie really funny. Deffo a must watch.

I do not do 'chick flicks' so i was extremely suprised by this film. It is funny without being slapstick, it has a great story, throroughly likeable characters and is laugh out loud funny. The characters each have a different story which runs along with the main storyline and I can't imagine anyone not liking this movie!
