The sequel to 2007's average at best Journey to the centre of the earth picks up five years later with better resuts.
Having toured the centre of the earth, Josh Hutcherson sets of on a quick trip to the Mysterious Island. Joining him this time is Dwayne (The Rock) Johnson and grandad Michael Caine (having a good time) and that chick out of Highschool musical who had to have certain private photo's deleted off the net. With all it's CG menagerie and mild family friendly peril, it feels more like a theme park ride rather a Jules verne adaption, but the spirit's light and pleasingly naff and feels like an old Doug McClure movie on space dust.
It's no classic and won't be remembered in "T" minus one day but it'll definatly keep the kids quiet on a rainy summers day.

Very good family film with plenty of action. Much better than the first film (Journey to the centre of the earth). Liked the concept of the sinking island rather than having to battle bad guys. Very enjoyable.
The Journey 2 is loosely based on a mix of the novels Vernes Mysterious Island, Stevenson's Treasure Island and Swift's Gulliver's Travels. 17-year-old Sean receives a coded message that he thinks is from his grandfather who is lost on a mysterious Island. He and his stepfather set of to see where the signal came from.
This is a fun family film. By no means a classic but is has some good effects and introduces a younger audience to some classic books. Entertaining and funny at times. Overall not a bad family film.
didnt enjoy it at all, loved the 1st one, but this just seemed pointless, was glad to see the end of it
