Beautifully filmed and acted. However slow and a bit repetative.Difficult to watch at one sitting and not one of those movies that grab you .

This isn't really a fair review cos I didn't see all the film. I made it to about the 30 minute mark and turned it off. It was just so boring. I went into the film with an open mind cos I didn't know too much about the film. If you like to listen to conversations about rich people being rich and depressed, then you may like this film.

  Overrated and too slow.....

From the reviews I have read I thought wow! lets give this film a go and make a night of it (Literally........)

If the beginning was anything to go off I should have switched it off straight away. Melancholia is very overrated and a good waste of 2 hours and 9 minutes of your life. The only good thing about it was Kirsten Dunst being the only actress that can actually act. I would not watch this again as it is a complete waste of time and effort pure and simple because it was way too slow and far to long and was dragged out when clearly it did not need too.

The value for this film should be reduced in a few months and I would not rush out to go and watch it again.

From the start the film has a strange feel about it (slow motion ).With hints of suspense ,but it soon passes with what i can only say is a slow story line if that's what you can call it .All set in a wedding with the main actress with mental problems,it drags on for over two hours with a so called dramatic ending ,more like thank god its over. With the list of A rated cast it was a shame it was not better.

  Top film of 2011

Easily the best film I saw at the cinema in 2011. Beautiful imagery, extraordinary acting, and a deeply thought provoking, often disturbing narrative. An existentialist film which pulls at facets of human nature which all too often go untouched in film making.

Tragic, sad, funny, eerie and mind blowing!

Not necessarily an easy movie to get into, but this psychological drama has an underlying tension thats grips and builds right through the movie to it's cataclysmic finale!! Sublime acting from the two leading female roles, Dunst and Gainsbourg add to the movie's powerful intensity, movie of the year 2011 for me! Truly exceptional!

Truly a life-changing film. Thought provoking and intense. Everyone should take the time to watch this, atleast twice.
