Perception: The Everyday World is Real. Reality: That World is a hoax, an elaborate deception spun by all-powerful machines of artificial intelligence that control us.

Mind blowing stunts. Techno-slamming visuals. Megakick action. Keanu Reeves and Laurence Fishburne lead the fight to free humankind in The Matrix, the cyber thriller that you will watch again and again. Written and Directed by the Wachowski brothers (Bound), the story sears, the special effects stake out new movie-making territory - the movie leaves you breathless.

 How to hoodwink an audience.

I can't believe how everyone was suckered by this abysmal excuse for a film. It seems that you can totally hoodwink an audience by giving them some half-baked techno babble and pass it off for a script full of wisdom.
For an action movie it has little action of repute because you know that the protagonist will prevail. You know he wont be harmed and frankly you don't care as he lacks any charisma. To top it off the end could have come from a primary school pupil who has 'love' save the day.
An invincible lead character just sucks the life out of any tension certain scenes may have developed. Even Bond has an audience worried sometimes.
Save your money as this film had already been made a million times better in 1991. It starred Arnie and is called T2.

So here is where it all began... The matrix world.

This is the original and first release of the matrix on DVD. Full of extra's although not as definitive as the other matrix DVD release's, the follow the white rabbit you can put on during the movie takes you to the how they did that for that scene.

The premise is simple, the real world we live in is a fake. A computer Generated Hoax to keep us from going mad. The real world is ran by the machines, who use us as there power source.

Mr Thomas Anderson - A hacker going by Neo feels something just isn't right with the world and is approached by Morpheus who brings him into the real world.

Teaching Neo 'Kung fu' he believes Neo to be 'The One' - the one who will end the human/machine world and free everyone from the matrix.

This movie is the truest part of any first part of a trilogy. Dealing with Birth and awakening. The subsequent sequals dealing with live and finally death.

From its extremly clever slightly green tinge to all scenes filmed inside the matrix, to its oft copied, groundbreaking visuals known as bullet time this movie was and remains ground breaking in every respect.

Stylishly shot, brilliant costumes, and full of fantastic lines from Morpheus.

Back before the Sequals the conspiracy theories running from this film kept the net very busy.

Fight scenes are excellent and again, it was from this film that movie stars realised that the viewer really wants to see them up close in breath taking fights. Reeves, Fishburne and the rest of the cast are uterly believable in their death defying running up walls, leaping between buildings and the gun fights.... Incredible

"What you trying to say, that I can dodge bullets"
"No, in time you won't have to"

Brilliant movie, even if you don't understand it in parts, the effects just make the whole thing worthwile, the slow mo and bullet time effects have still not been used in a better way 10 years later. Keanue was perfectly cast. Sadly it was all down hill for the series after this, after it seemed to get a bit too clever for itself. Shame

Great start to an epic trilogy!

Although the third instalment was a bit disappointing, this movie is one of the best. It started a kind f cult belief, if any film has the power to do that, it must be strong. Lol, did the last guy say "I hope Neo Dies"? Well he does in the third one so I guess your hopes came true, sadly your imagination is flawed though. Great movie, over-the-top and well directed.
