A very moving and well made film. Patch Adams what a guy. Robin Williams plays the part so well. Based on a true story it is well worth the value of money. A tearful film to some degree, really does make you stop and think. (well it did for me). Enjoyable and emotional to the very end.
Terrible.....

100 time better than any Jim Carrey film!

Patch Adams is, in my opinion, the best film that the brilliant actor, Robin Williams, has ever done.
Everyone that I have recommended it to, have said the same.
It is directed by Tom Shadyac who also directed some of the films that starred the awful Jim (you've seen one, you've seen them all) Carrey, but don't be put off by this. This film is absolutely nothing like any of the abysmal Carrey films.
It is not an out and out comedy. It's more of a drama and based on a true story with a very high comedy content.
The story is about a Doctor who sets up an hospital for the poor.
It will have you in tears of laughter and tear of sadness.
As I said, don't confuse this excellent film with any Jim Carrey rubbish. This film is well worth owning to watch over and over again. I never get bored with it!
If you are ever stuck for a present to buy someone, buy them Patch Adams and you can't go wrong.
A Truly True Inspirational Story!!

This film is based on a true story, and i found it very inspirational. My nan always said that "Laughter is the best medicine" and this film is a FANTASTIC example of this.
(Good Points)
I found this film to be very inspirational, and that if you want or believe in somthing that you should drive yourself to do it and the reward will be worth it.
(Bad Points)
The main bad point i found in this film is that if you havent experienced any kind of medical loss or problems in your family you might get a bit bord with it, otherwise you should find that you can relate to this film easily
(DVD Special Features)
The Special Features on this DVD are pretty basic, however it does have things like Outtakes, Making Of Documentary and a Theatrical Trailer, which makes it very good for the money.
This film will probably not appeal to people who have a heart made of stone, and who have a short attention span. Although it should keep most people entertained with its comedy and quick wit.
I give this film a 5/5 :D
Patch Adams (Review)

Nearly ten years on and Patch Adams remains a mess, a cloyinging mix of syrupy performances, sugary morals and a few decent jokes. Director Tom Shayac has had success with several comedy's (Ace Ventura, Liar Liar) and when he goes for laughs Patch Adams isn't bad. However to often the film goes for sentimental drama not a field the director looks especially comfortable in.
The actors are all pretty lame, Robin Williams performs his usual schtick and support from Monica Potter, Bob Gunton and Daniel London is bland a generic. Phillip Seymour Hoffman's jealous classmate is ok, but overall the film doesn't really capture the magic that the real life Patch Adams performed. Not worth a purchase but if Robin Williams or mawkish sentiment is your thing then a rental isn't entirely unreasonable.
