We Need To Talk About Kevin

I read about this film in the paper so went to see it with my mum yesterday. Wow I haven't stopped thinking about it since! The way the director creates an atmosphere with every tiny sound and movement of the actors is something I have never seen this well done before. If you like films that make you think and imagery that could have more than one meaning, this is the film for you. Still haven't stopped talking about this and telling people!! Go see it now!!

This is a film that leaves impact, so gently it leads you through the devastation of a family, through whose fault? You have to work that one out for youself. I was held transfixed through the entire thing. A real thought provoking experience. The acting is supberb and definitely deserves awards.

Uniformly excellent acting around a very controversial and difficult topic makes for a film which in no way (as another reviewer points out) is an easy watch but one which has an impact and a lasting memory on anyone who does watch it.

Tilda Swinton is brilliant as Eva, the mother of Kevin. Her only son who has done something completely shocking and horrific (and perhaps best not spoiled here) leaving his mother in the aftermath to try and comprehend how it could have happened, and whether or not she herself bears any role.

Tilda Swinton really should have gotten at the very least a Best Actress Oscar nomination for her work here but notwithstanding that all the performances are exceptional, including Ezra Miller as Kevin himself.

A difficult watch to be sure..........but a worthwhile one.

This Film Flows along going back and fourth from present day to earlier in an almost dream like state and a ton of menacing atmosphere for a good 45 mins or so before it settles down a little and we get to find out whats making this Family tick,Tilda swinton is the heart that holds the film together,i found her performance realy heartbreaking,This woman lost everything because of her son and i found it all realy tragic,Lynne ramsay is a hell of an exciting Film maker,there,s great Camera work and i loved all the strange little country and western tunes playing over some of the scenes,Overall highly recommended and interesting,i dont think its a film to put you off having kids"but if you already have them,it makes you want to give them a long cuddle...;-)
