As the other reviewer stated, this documentary is funny, emotional, incredibly informative and, as far as I'm aware, accurate in telling the story of the bands history. Starting from the Mother Love Bone days, we are taken on a journey through Pearl Jam's life and treated to some great concert footage along the way (Release in Verona is a particular highlight). Ed, Mike, Stone, Jeff, Matt , Chris Cornell and director Cameron Crowe all offer us their insight and point of view on what has been a career full of highs and lows and if you're a fan, as I am, there isn't a whole lot more you could ask for.

When I first saw the film in cinemas, I thought it was the greatest documentary I'd ever seen. But after a few more watches you start to pick up on some areas where it could've been improved. Personally, I think it would've been great to hear from some of the drummers of days gone by. Crowe sends us a bit of a mixed message about the importance of drummers in Pearl Jam by quickly skimming through the history of the drummers in the appropriately titled 'Drummer Story' narrated by Mike McCready. This is followed by Ed stating that the drummers are like the heart of the band, and it's like a heart transplant every time one is replaced. A minor criticism, but something I think should've been improved upon. Why not hear from Dave Abbruzese on the reasons why he was fired?

But perhaps I'm missing the point; on the DVD it clearly states that this film is dedicated to the fans and it gives the fans exactly what they want. If you love Pearl Jam as much as I do, you'll want to buy this film.
