Evil Dead 2 is a sophisticated blood and gore satire with wall-to-wall special effects that concentrates on the classic conflict between good and evil.
In an apparently forsaken cottage, Ash and Linda discover a tape recorder. They turn it on to hear the voice of Professor Knowby, who has successfully translated 'The book of the dead.' His words awaken the spirit of evil, possessing Linda. Ash begins his relentless battle against an all-powerful evil that takes many forms including the trees, Linda's decapitated head and even his own hand.
When evil appears to get the upper hand it is left to Ash to don a chainsaw and shotgun and rid the world of the demon spirit by dawn.

Is it supposed to be funny or scary?.... IT IS NEITHER

There is an hour and a half of my life I will never get back!!!! Sat watching it with my jaw dropped. What is my reaction supposed to be?!?!?! Why is it in the horror section of all websites when it is just a joke.
Seems to my like it is a very poor comedy that is HUGELY overrated. Do not waste your time and money on this genuine rubbish!
The Evil Dead films are very dated now, and the special effects obviously aren't as good and the whole film just feels very dated. I do love this film, don't get me wrong. But i think a horror movie should move with the times and still be scary. For me the film looked at now, by a younger audience would be seen much more as a comedy rather than a horror. When i watched this film i was in stitches laughing, really i was.
I gave the film 3 stars because the film is still great but has changed over time, and became more appealing to different audiences.
3 stars overall.
One of the very best satirical horrors ever made.

If you have seen the Evil Dead then you are unlikely to be impressed with Evil Dead II, but if you haven't then you are in for a treat. This is a fast paced extremely gory, very scary horror movie, with a simply brilliant story. You need to pay attention too, because there are twists in this film that are pure genius! I suppose the sense of humour will make or break it for you, it certainly made it for me. One of the best satirical horrors ever made.
