Killer Elite (2011)

This is a top notch action thriller with a great story, plenty of action, and cool performances from a great cast, Statham is brilliant as usual playing the cool hard man Ex special forces killer and hes backed up with great roles from Clive Owen and Robert DeNiro, this is based on a book and true events which makes it all the more interesting, great action thriller worth picking up!!

Killing for revenge, killing to protect, killing for honor, killing for money whatever the reason is it's all here!
A conspiracy based movie about SAS operations, secret missions leading to deaths and as a result someone wants revenge. This is where De Niro and Statham come in, and then later on they're met by Clive Owen. The story unfolds quickly and develops nicely, moves swiftly and doesn't get dull.
It has a gritty feeling to it, the era is captured perfectly and it makes the film more enjoyable. Theres a lot of action, plenty of shooting, fight and cashes happening throughout.
There's not much depth here, the movie tries to give Statham a heart but it doesn't produce, which makes most of those scenes seems pointless.

Overall: It's entertaining, its a guys action movie with plenty of action to keep the adreneline junkies happy, and enough story and twists to keep the thriller lovers enticed.

Dont expect a guts and glory shootem up, this is more of an insight into another world of special forces and hired killers...a film for the thinker and conspiracy theory enthusiast.

This great old school style action thriller is based on true events, how much of it actually happend is down to personal opinion, but never the less this is a top-notch action film.
Statham fans will get what they expect with some brutal hand to hand combat but the film is allot more to offer than that,as for all the gun-play there is a good intelligent script and the added class of De Niro and Clive Owen not to forget some of the best facial hair to grace the screen in years. I took part in "Movember" 2011 to help awareness and lots of money to help fight cancer in men and for a month sported a nice 'Tache, but I was in awe of some of the "Tachage" in this film that perfectly complements the 1980 setting of he story, they even managed to get the cars right.
There is plenty of action and double crossing and the explosions are loud, but just when you think the film is about to end it kicks off again all leading to a well judged climax.
Killer Elite is a great thriller with a top class cast and this could be the best film Statham has been in so far, as he surprises by holding his own with acting heavy weights like De Niro and Owen.
